This campus needs to put signs up “Knife Free Zone” to prevent this from happening again!
or maybe… “Assault/Murder Free Zone”? If we are not crystal clear with our laws and signage, people will still accidentally kill others thinking its OK to do so.
So far “14 hurt” have been reported. No deaths, so far. Maybe some of these unfortunate victims will die, but right now a “Knife Free Zone” might be premature.

At least 14 people were hurt Tuesday in a stabbing spree at a Texas community college, authorities said. Sheriff’s officials said a suspect was in custody.
It was not immediately clear how severe the injuries were. The stabbing happened at the CyFair campus of Lone Star College, in the Houston suburb of Cypress.
A spokeswoman for North Cypress Medical Center outside Houston said the hospital had taken six stabbing victims who were in stable condition. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said at least four people who were taken to hospitals in helicopters.
Someone should note the difference in death toll between this outbreak and those with guns…. and put a comment on their thread.
This incident really gives arguers for complete gun bans a BIG shot of adrenalin.

Trying to explain that this is the very opposite of proving their point, would be like trying to explain the color blue to someone blind from birth.
Anybody talking about another good guy with a gun who neglects to secure said gun while he has house guests. A 4 year old (!) picks the thing up and shoots the good guy with a gun’s wife. Seriously. If this 4 year old had a knife this man’s wife might have a slash across her legs, but she would be alive.
This incident reminds me of a column by the great Molly Ivins entitled “Taking a Stab at Our Infatuation with Guns”. It reads: “Let me start this discussion by pointing out that I am not anti-gun. I’m pro-knife. Consider the merits of the knife. In the first place, you have catch up with someone in order to stab him. A general substitution of knives for guns would promote physical fitness. We’d turn into a whole nation of great runners. Plus, knives don’t ricochet. And people are seldom killed while cleaning their knives. As a civil libertarian, I of course support the Second Amendment. And I believe it means exactly what it says: “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Fourteen-year-old boys are not part of a well-regulated militia. Members of wacky religious cults are not part of a well-regulated militia. Permitting unregulated citizens to have guns is destroying the security of this free state. I am intrigued by the arguments of those who claim to follow the judicial doctrine of original intent. How do they know it was the dearest wish of Thomas Jefferson’s heart that teen-age drug dealers should cruise the cities of this nation perforating their fellow citizens with assault rifles? Channelling?”
