Vice President Joe Biden “faces a situation unique in the annals of modern American politics,” the New York Times reports.

“He is the vice president, the highest-ranking member of his party interested in running for president, yet he is not the heir apparent. While every sitting vice president who sought it in the last half-century captured his party’s nomination, Mr. Biden would start as the underdog if he ran against Mrs. Clinton, the former secretary of state.”

Which is why he won’t run if she does. Hillary and Joe are also good friends, which I think makes the decision not to run easier, not harder.

A Republican County Commissioner in Saline County, Kansas used the term “n**ger-rigging” during a heated debate. Commissioner Jim Gile (R) apologized and said to the local newspaper that it was a “bad choice of words” and that he meant to say “jury-rigged,” noting “I had it on my brain and this came out. It was a bad choice of words. I’m sorry.”

I am not sure saying it was a bad “choice” or words and saying it just slipped out by accident is a good thing. It means you use the term frequently in your life and you are comfortable with it. And that means you are a racist bigot sent here from Hell. Apology not accepted. What we will accept is your resignation from public office for the rest of your life.

Stay classy, Pat Toomy:

“Four senators may have signed on to a gun background check deal Wednesday, but only two showed up for the news conference — in part because Sen. Patrick J. Toomey’s public support for the bill hinged on not having to stand next to Sen. Charles E. Schumer.”

Our wonderful Insurance Commissioner KWS Failed to show for a long scheduled meeting with Delaware Dietetic Association members who were waiting in her office. I’m sure KWS had better things to do than meet with ordinary Delaware citizens who are concerned about the health of other Delawareans.

Since this is an open thread, I just want to thank you guys for your terrific posts vis a vis education in Wilmington. They have been highly informative. We moved here from NYC about six years ago and even though I read the News Journal daily, I had no idea just how messed up everything was.

    Again, thanks.

In defense of Pat Toomey, there is a saying in DC that the most dangerous place in DC is in between Chuck Schumer and a camera.

And that fool Jim Gile, when challenged on his n*gg*r-rigging comment, changed first to “African-Americanizing it”. THEN he told the paper later he meant to use jury-rigging.

    Anybody fooled?

    Cassandra-
Gile’s comment shouldn’t surprise anyone. A white manager at my former workplace once asked my AA coworker to “nigger rig” a broken piece of equipment. This was a global corporation w/ strict HR policies. My coworker pointed out the offensive nature of our boss’ comment. Boss was shocked that his comment was offensive!

I must have lived a sheltered life. I have never heard that term, ever. I have heard of and used “jury rig” and “jerry-rig” also “jerry-built.”

It must be a southern thing and my formative years were spent in the North East.

Can someone please tell me why TSA would confiscate my starving student’s 6 lbs. of peanut butter they lifted from my pantry, to take back to school and had in their carry on? I didn’t report it missing. And right it front of the kid they split up the 3 jars amongst themselves. I’m pissed.

  8. Dave says:

C4 can be molded into any shape and easily turned into peanut butter shade.

As far as them splitting up the jars amongst themselves, maybe one person didn’t want to carry all 3 jars of C4. That’s one of those things where you are missing pieces of information and don’t actually know what they did with the peanut butter.

    “jerry-rig” also “jerry-built.”

I am extremely offended by that expression and I demand an apology.

  10. Aoine says:

As “Jerry” is not among any of the recognized protected classes , you do not have any protections under the Civil Rights Act -any of them.

However, feel free to be offended. 😉

Well what about me? People don’t even mess around when they discuss my treatment. It’s overt hate and non-preferential status.
