24-17
Still can’t believe there are 17 Delawareans elected to the House that voted FOR discrimination. Each one of them must be shamed and then defeated. Kudos to Sarah McBride, who championed this bill and put a face on those who are transgender. I am sure, like myself, many of us did not know a Transgendered person personally. Until Sarah. Her courage in telling her story so publicly made this possible.
I was just looking at the Twitter history on this and sheesh, did some of the GOP ever pull out the bigot guns here. It says that it was passed with an amendment, so has to go back to the Senate — but I can’t figure out what the amendment was.
let me check to see what the amendment was
It is an amendment by Bryon Short that passed 25-16 (so who was the idiot that voted for the amendment but against the bill?) that seeks to define how gender identity is proven more clearly. It is a friendly amendment. Here is the new definitional language placed with the bill:
The amendment also more explicitly provides that places of public accommodation may provide reasonable accommodations on the basis of gender identity in areas of facilities where disrobing is likely, such as separate or private areas for the use of persons whose gender-related identity, appearance or expression is different from their assigned sex at birth.
McBride has been ubiquitous. Kudos to her.
Thanks for digging up the amendment, DD.
So much for the love affair with Trey Paradee, eh?
