Around the Horn for the Week of July 26-August 1, 2013
Our weekly look at the other blogs in Delaware, of all political stripes.
Retired in Delaware has a message to all the gays who are upset that they do not have marriage equality yet in their states like we do in Delaware: either get to work to change that like we did in Delaware and stop crying, or move. Either way, shut up.
Elizabeth Scheinberg of the Children & Educators First blog has a post up about the Cape Henlopen School District’s recent controversy over offering an elective Bible in History course.
Pat Fish at Delaware Politics tells her story of going up against county government in a zoning and property dispute. Despite the site’s conservative civil war, and its conservative if not batshit politics, I think this story is universal, and it is amazing how similar to New Castle County Sussex County sounds like when it comes to coddling developers.
Kilroy is not pleased with Delaware’s 2013 Teacher of the Year, John Sell. Mr. Sell is now an assistant principal, and has drunk the Markool-aid on Common Core.
Transparent Christina talks about the recent grade fixing scandal in Florida while noting that the Education Chief who resigned in disgrace has the same education policy as Governor Markell. Nice tag.
Sussex County Angel posts on anti-beer and pro-marijuana ad that was supposed to air during a recent NASCAR race.
Frank Knotts at Delaware Right wonders where Christine O’Donnell has been over the last three years, indeed over the last legislative session, if she even harbors future electoral plans to run again? The answer is clear. Like her mentor, Sarah Palin, Christine is lazy.
Steve Newton at Delaware Libertarian has some thoughts on the recent Bradley Manning verdict, remembers and honors the late Bill Morris, the founder of the Delaware Libertarian Party, and lists 10 reasons why Delaware is a police state.
Nancy Willing at Delaware Way highlights the Green Party’s recent letter to the editor against Crude By Rail increasing in Delaware. As well they should, given the recent disaster in Canada. She also has a must see video on how Christiana suffered through the unaccredited Broad Superintendents Academy. And she might have been a victim of the UD Identity Theft Cyber Attack.
Kavips reviews the critical review of Smart Balance.
Jesus H Roosevelt CHRIST. Are you fucking serious?
Pat Fish’s problem has nothing to do with developers, coddling, or zoning. The only thing universal about it is that the universe now knows just how willfully fucking ignorant Pat Fish is. Her rant is about a property line dispute among neighbors. Happens every week in every state in the Union. But Pat Fish has a microphone and enjoys being the dramatic, oppressed, put-upon victim, and that’s why she and her second-grade knowledge of government and law are getting attention. She doesn’t know what she doesn’t know, and is too stupid, bull-headed and crazy to call someone smart up and ask them.
I’m not saying the county handled things best, either – the letter, as she describes it (I haven’t read the full thing because she hasn’t posted it), could have been better-worded. But the conspiracy she paints here simply isn’t.
I could not agree more. People and govt. offices send letters out everyday based on the information at hand. If you have more information, or differing information, it is up to you to bring it to the light. NOT go on a tirade about the ” gummint ” is out to get us. I just got through a property line dispute, and have nothing but good things to say about the staff down on the circle. They received my information and provided me with all of the info they had and guess what? It all worked itself out.
According to the rumor mill DelawarePolitics.net is down because Don Ayotte didn’t pay the bill.
Wow. I feel like I owe you guys who are actually wading into that cesspool called Delaware Politics a martini.
They can’t lose any more viewers if Don and Pat can’t post.
FTR, the grade fixing scandal was in Indiana, he was defeated in 2012 election, after the nefarious acts (and Emails), moved on to FL, where he resigned.
Also, thx for the ATH mention!
I would love to know how O’Donnell is supporting herself these days. Also, has she taken any more courses on the Constitution cause the eight day class she took at Oxford obviously didn’t cover enough ground.
ql good question since O’Donnell still doesn’t have a job, and if you want to count her PAC as a job, she’s quite the failure. Her PAC is barely receiving donations and keeps itself afloat by selling the personal information of her donors to mailing lists.
And yes, that would be the same Christine O’Donnell who said in a debate with Chris Coons that the information from donors shouldn’t have to be given to the FEC because it violates their privacy.
