Since the retirements of three of our long serving contributors (Nemski, Unstable Isotope, and LiberalGeek), we have been looking to add new contributors to the Delaware Liberal fold. Right now we have 7 active contributors, but we have found that having a group blog of around 10 contributors is what keeps a blog going and what keeps it fresh. So we have been looking recently for new talent. And we found some right here in our comment pages.
ProgressivePopulist (PP) has been commenting here on many topics for some time. And he has an impressive resume. He is a Texas transplant (though California native) who relatively recently retired to Delaware. PP is a Army veteran who served as an military intelligence officer, though he is an anti-war activist since the Vietnam War. He was a leader in the public school movement in Houston. After having been trained as an organizer within the Texas Democratic Party reformist movement in the 60’s, he then owned his own political advertising/communications firm in Texas, directing the communications of 35 Democratic campaigns in Houston and Texas with a 70% win rate. He then co-founded the Progressive Populist Caucus of the Texas Democratic Party and served on numerous state platform committees and as a Texas delegate to the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston. He also was very active within the Harris County Democratic Party (where Houston is located).
So we are gaining a very experienced politico as our new contributor. PP will be concentrated on national politics for a while since he is a relatively new Delawarean. But once he gets his feet wet in our Delaware politics, I am sure he won’t be able to resist.
So welcome ProgressivePopulist, and treat him as nicely as you treat me… er ah… treat him as nicely as you would treat Pandora. Yes, that’s better. 😉
