Have you noticed how commercialized Halloween has become?

If you are looking for some honest spooky/literary entertainment next weekend…. Ms. Liberal and I went to the DSF’s Shakespeare/Poe last night and it was great. She loved the Poe readings and tolerated the Shakespeare and I loved the Shakespeare and tolerated the Poe. Taken as a whole, it was fantastic. That’s why our marriage works. Teamwork.

Tickets are $18.50. I recommend the Read House & Gardens in Old New Castle.

Shakespeare/Poe – A night of readings from “the dark side”

Spend a night with two masters of the macabre – William Shakespeare and Edgar Allan Poe. DSF actors will read selections perfect for the Halloween season from the plays of Shakespeare and the poems and short stories of Poe.

Choose from three unique performance venues – the gothic halls of Rockwood Mansion, the eclectic galleries of the Newark Arts Alliance, or the grandeur of the Read House & Gardens in Old New Castle. But choose quickly! There are only 30 seats available each night in each venue.

October 18-20 and 25-27 (10/19 and 10/20 Performances Sold Out)

Scroll down to view performance dates. Roll over date and click to select performance for ticket purchase.

Oooh! That sounds like a fun evening. I love Poe!

I also love Halloween. It’s my favorite holiday, and the number of decorations I’ve collected over the years might be a tad excessive. Yeah, it’s become commercialized, but as long as I can go crazy at Pier One… I’m okay with that! 😉

    Boo!
