Ladies and Gentlemen, my opponent is a Republican.

The world has changed since the shut down, and Democrats now have pickup opportunities in 49 of 61 districts surveyed by PPP. “But,” people will say, “The election is a year out. People will forget?” To which I reply, “Awesome!” and “No they won’t forget.” A year out is perfect. This news cannot but help with Democratic recruitment and fundraising. And does anybody really think that the Republicans are about to suddenly go all sane and reasonable in the next 12 months? I don’t.

The new (polling) results show substantial Republican vulnerability in many districts that were not even supposed to be close.

Incumbent Republicans trail generic Democrats in15 of the 25 districts we most recently surveyed. This means
generic Democrats lead in 37 of 61 districts polled since the beginning of the government shutdown. Democrats only need to net 17 seats in order to retake the House. And the bad news for Republicans doesn’t stop there, because in the minority of the 61 districts where Republicans lead in the initial head-to-head question, 11 more Republicans fall behind once voters are informed that the Republican supported the government shutdown and 1 race becomes tied. This means that our results indicate Democrats have pickup opportunities in an astounding 49 of the 61 districts surveyed

Never underestimate the stupidity of the American people, the Gohmerts, Ryans and Kings will all be back and unrepentant. It’s far better than it was and I predict there will be another extortion attempt in the new year to reinforce what’s going on but remember, more than a few Americans actually agree with these people.

And then there’s this: Rick Santorum To Lead ‘Strikeforce’ To Save Ken Cuccinelli’s Flagging Campaign.

Which in a sane world really would be the drop the mic time.

Have you ever heard a conservative utter the sentence “I was wrong”? That, not their positions, is what’s really turning off the folks who don’t pay much attention to politics. You don’t have to be a parent to know childishness when you see it.

And another one (who clearly cannot admit he was wrong or admit to screwing over vets): A Special Kind of Stupid Coming Out of Texas

Texas Rep. Blake Farenthold backed the government shutdown and the attempts to tie it to Obamacare. The shutdown riled up a lot of voters in Farenthold’s district. He was interviewed by a Corpus Christi television station, KRISTV, about the political fallout from the shutdown.
Farenthold responded to the reporter’s comment that many of Farenthold’s constituents will no longer support him. The reporter specifically mentioned how some disabled vets are upset that they faced losing their disability checks. In a particularly foolish misstep, Farenthold dismissed those disabled vets with this comment:
“I feel like my mandate when I was elected was to go reduce the size of government, lower taxes, and increase freedom, and freedom isn’t free, and sometimes you have to make a small sacrifice to move forward with what you’re after.”
Here’s a Congressman asking disabled vets, who have suffered life-threatening wounds and lost limbs defending this country, to make a “small sacrifice” for Farenthold’s political agenda.

Have you seen a picture of the guy? He’d fill a C-5 all by himself.

Sane people in those gerrymandered districts need to hold their nose and register as Republicans.

Understand that Farenthold is a trust fund baby too, so giving financial advice to people who need extra help is pretty choice.

Since the shutdown, a majority of Virginia voters now say they view Cuccinelli unfavorably (51%).

More than a half-dozen blue-chip Democratic candidates who had been uneasy about running — or flatly declined to do so — are now jumping headlong into top-flight races. And they’re citing the ugly spectacle on Capitol Hill as a big reason.
