This makes me very sad; an end of an era. *sob*
I listened to The Velvet Underground featuring Nico on vinyl last night. It’s so fucking genius. Produced by Andy Warhol and released 1967. I’m going to listen to it again tonight… great American artist.
Ann Powers on What Lou Reed Taught Me. A great read, and nice appreciation of one of my favorite Lou Reed albums, Street Hassle.

Toesucker Blues: Robert Christgau’s Farewell Salute to Lou Reed
Hey LG! I loved the New York album too — especially its pretty vivid liner notes taking shots at a pretty wide range of people.
I find myself humming songs from that album all the time. Sometimes Halloween Parade (particularly appropriate this week) or Busload of Faith or maybe Dirty Boulevard.
As far as I’m concerned, Lou Reed was New York.
Great interview with Lou Reed from BOMB Magazine, 1998.
