Just kill yourself already Frank
I have a short list of people whose deaths I will be happy to celebrate. Frank Luntz is one of them.
It appears I might have the chance. Luntz got a serious case of the pouts when Obama was reelected and it is threatening to kill him. Now don’t get me wrong. I know depression is a real disease, but Luntz’ depression is funny to me.
It was what Luntz heard from the American people that scared him. They were contentious and argumentative. They didn’t listen to each other as they once had. They weren’t interested in hearing other points of view. They were divided one against the other, black vs. white, men vs. women, young vs. old, rich vs. poor. “They want to impose their opinions rather than express them,” is the way he describes what he saw. “And they’re picking up their leads from here in Washington.”
One of the few people responsible for making the American people this way is named Frank Luntz. So, Frank, look in the mirror if you want someone to blame.
Basically, his problem seems to be that people are sick of his bullshit. Luntz-style rhetoric has so many imitators now that it no longer has any effect.
It reminds me of Neurolinguistic Programming – that New Agey crap Tony Robbins was peddling, Basically its the idea that you can control your vocabulary and framing to make people go along with you, without them even knowing it. Anybody reasonably alert can spot when somebody tries that crap.
Luntz gets the all-time smarmiest award!
“Shitstorm creator now depressed about shitstorms”
Luntz is depressed that the Dickensian world view of his clients no longer dominates the conversation. (Although from here I sit, it sure seems to.) He can’t get over that (some) people see that they aren’t being treated fairly by his clients.
Although I’d agree with his general assessment, Luntz puts the blame on the wrong party. Obama did not divide the country. The racists in the Tea Party, or still in the Republican Party are the ones responsible for making non-compromise the newest standard of emasculated manhood…
If one looks at which party obfuscates, and which party creates, by a score of 1,000,000 to one, it is obvious that Conservatives are responsible for this divide. Their message in “Believe what I say; ignore reality”.. and their artificial contests to measure “purity” and strength of one’s beliefs, are the principal cause of today’s divide. It has always taken two people to have a conversation. When Republicans don’t budge, end of conversation., How this works is illustrated by the following scenario.
“False is true!”
“No it isn’t, true is true and false is false.”
“I said False was true! Dammit!. What’s wrong with “you people”?
“Uhh. .Nothing is wrong with “us-people; true is true and false is false.”
“You people can’t agree with anyone; you are the problem; we need more people who believe false is true. Then America will run right…”
…. or something similar along those lines… IF one wants further examples just listen to WDEL between 1 and 4 on weekday afternoons… 🙂
Man who killed his parents now depressed because he is an orphan.
Somehow I think his blaming Obama for divisiveness is another attempt to make that failed frame stick, but nobody is having any of it.
I know, right. That any Republican can have the nerve to complain about Americans being too “contentious and argumentative” is a hoot. That Frank Luntz is complaining about it is astonishing. What next? Karl Rove worries that too many brainless psychopaths are running for office?
