19 Years on “The Gravy Train to end all Gravy Trains” enough for Orlando George
After 45 years of service to Delaware Technical Community College, Dr. Orlando J. George Jr. has announced his intention to step down as president and retire June 30, 2014.
George said, “It has been my privilege and honor to lead this great college of ours for almost 19 years. I have loved every minute of serving as president because of the many opportunities it has given me to help make a difference in the lives of others…our students, our Delaware Tech family and our Delaware community. There can be no doubt that Delaware Tech raises the standard of living for Delawareans and opens doors for its graduates.”

Hmmm….I wonder what his pension will be?
Turk,
Let’s put this in perspective.
Lonnie’s pension will be in the neighborhood of $300K/year (not bad for a guy who started out as a faculty union organizer at DelTech’s campus at 30th street and Northeast Blvd.).
If we can believe the governor’s estimates on his gas tax proposal, Lonnie’s pension would be enough to pay the entire gas tax increase for 5,000 Delaware families a year.
I think the increased gas tax is a good idea, but whenever I fill up, I’ll be thinking about Lonnie George.
I saw a similar puff piece on delawareonline.com last night.
What a disgrace. This hack runs “Del-take-us” and earns far more than any other state employee. And he’s *proud* of his alleged accomplishments.
I know plenty of Del Tech grads. Some of them are great at their jobs, others, not so much.
I’m not shitting on Del Tech. I just don’t see what Mr. Lonnie George has done to earn such high praise. The spin on Lonnie reminds me of this woman.
Will he leave the keys to Ruth Ann’s fixer?
Not sure what the school motto is, but how can you improve on “Make It Happen”?
A $12,000/year math teacher when he got elected to the State House in 1974.
Some Watergate babies became Patrick Leahy and Henry Waxman. Others became Lonnie George.
Lonnie George, Roger Roy. Which fed more at the Delaware Political Trough? Both had lots of collusion from politicians past and present, both are poster children of Delaware’s seemingly endless corruption. Neither has flushed easily but hell, we hardly tried.
