Trying to manipulate the photo to read that gravestone in the foreground. Looks like a military marker. I’m guessing Civil War-ish, but I can’t make it out. And the other grouping with the larger stones could be a family plot… And other clues?
This is one of the oldest churches or parishes in North America. The Parish was established in 1706. The main church was built in 1742. There are not only Civil War gravestones in this cemetery, but also pre Revolutionary War markers as well. It is nearby. Just not in Delaware.
Is it the Old Wye Episcopal Church in Wye Mills, MD? If it is, I’m really embarrassed since I got married to Mr. Ex there in 1981. You’d think I’d know for sure!!!
Nice. It took a bit of research and the tips helped narrow it down. Funny thing is I have likely been past that church dozens of times. I never knew anything about it until today.
