The GOP civil war is over; The Tea Party won & America Lost

The Republican Party cannot win a national election, but it is unified and dedicated to red-fanged political nihilism. The Democratic Party is too infested with collaborators (Yes I’m talking about you John Carney) and corporate sell outs (Hello Senators Carper & Coons !) to be an effective counterweight to the idiocy. That is the new normal. America had a nice run. It is all over now.

In the orgy of self-flagellation that followed the 2012 election, Bobby Jindal called the GOP “the stupid party.” The GOP is many things, but stupid isn’t one of them. It is learning how to weed out candidates who have “witch” on their résumé or talk about “legitimate rape.” But those who say the tea party is dead miss the point. The tea party is and always has been the Republican base: dedicated to obstructing and dismantling federal government, livid about Obama and all he represents about the country’s demographical change, and well to the country’s right on issues ranging from immigration reform to gay marriage. John Boehner had it right this week when he said there’s “not that big a difference between what you call the tea party and your average conservative Republican.” The motion was seconded by Matt Kibbe, the leader of the tea-party organization FreedomWorks, who said, “Everybody is running like a tea-party candidate now.”

I once felt bad for my sensible Delaware Republicans peeps. Although we disagree on some specifics, they love their families and want the best for the country. They are decent. Now I just feel bad for all of us. I have a soft spot for those of us who are old enough to remember how America worked when we all felt that, regardless of our differences, we are all in this together. We’ve lost more than future generation will be able to imagine. The sentiment, “at the end of the day, we are all Americans” is laughable now.

Idiots and dupes like John Carney carry on mouthing those words about cooperation and bipartisanship being the path forward. But knowing what we all now know about the Republican Party, it sounds like it is the rote memorization of a mentally challenged child. The catechism of a ghost-dancing moron.
