Memorial Day: Sean Barney Talks About His Iraq Experience
We all know that Sean Barney is challenging Chip Flowers for the office of State Treasurer. Sean is a veteran of the Iraq war — one who signed up to serve after 9/11. I’m a big fan of Sean and his leadership — this video is his interview yesterday with Patrick Murphy on the MSNBC show Taking the Hill:
Thank you for your service, Sean, and we look forward to your commitment to both honor and service being a part of the leadership of the Treasurer’s office.

Sean Barney is an admirable guy. That he refused Carper’s help when entering the service, perhaps shows that he can avoid the worst, most anti-Democratic habits of the Carper operation.
Does Sean Barney stay in $700 hotels?
Ouch!
The campaign will tell the story of honor or not. I am reminded of George W. Bush in 2000 pledging to “restore honor to the White House.” Some voters ate that up.
Barney isn’t making that kind of claim directly yet, but it is a matter of time before that theme emerges as a centerpiece.
The good news with that kind of claim (in this case) is that it won’t take much to “restore honor” to this office — especially since Flowers’ fans continue to insist on such a low bar for it.
