Other than doing door-to-door with Bryan Townsend and hosting Mitch Crane at the Arden Fair, I’ve not been out front in actively campaigning for political candidates since I took my leave of the Delaware General Assembly.
Brenda Mayrack has changed that. To the extent that I’ll be on her Host Committee for this upcoming event:

That’s right. As a host, I’m ponying up $100. Why?
Because, for all intents and purposes, we haven’t had an auditor, let alone a competent auditor, for however long Tom “Suspendered Disbelief” Wagner has been in office. I’ve argued on this blog for years that we really need a competent auditor. A competent auditor can and will save the state lots of dollars. It’s not even mostly about waste, fraud, and abuse, it’s about working with agencies to save the state money while not cutting services. I used to be the Research Analyst for the Joint Sunset Committee. I read reports from auditors throughout the country that led to genuine cost savings simply by identifying and correcting inefficiencies in state agencies from coast to coast. I tried to help apply them as best I could through our Sunset reviews of state agencies. But it’s really what a competent state auditor should have been doing all along.
I think that anyone who has ever worked with Brenda Mayrack knows that she’s incredibly competent, hard-working, and committed to being the state auditor, as opposed to playing one at the State Fair. Plus, she’s very, very smart.
I believe in her so much that I’m more than willing to help host this event along with people who it’s possible, just possible, I’ve occasionally criticized on this very site. No criticism this time. We’re all just coming together for a common purpose.
As Delawareans, we can’t let this opportunity pass us by. Help us elect a state auditor who will save the state far more money than what the Auditor’s office spends. Please stop by this event, meet Brenda, make a contribution, and perhaps even talk pro rasslin’ with Yours Truly. I just might be the one in the lucha libre mask…
