Between us, I love it here. 10 minute bus ride to work. I never drive. Gasoline bill is about $50 every two months. Neighborhood pub is a 5 minutes walk. Great restaurants popping up all over the place all walking distance. I’ve seen Graham Nash, Elvis Costello and Willie Nelson at the Grand in the last 6 months. Great music at Nomad and the Queen. Plus there are three art studiso within walking distance of my home…. I can walk to an art house theatre for Indie and foreign films (Theatre N).
I’m with Dorian. I love city living for all the reasons Dorian named. I never notice when gas prices rise because I only fill my car up once a month, if that! I love the architecture of city neighborhoods with mature trees. I also love the way shops and restaurants aren’t super-sized and surrounded by massive parking lots.
I get why city living isn’t for everyone. What I don’t understand is why people feel the need to bash the city in order to justify their not living there.
The incredibly lovely intersection of 10th and French. I see it every day as the #10 bus gets ready to turn left and go up the hill to Rodney Sq.
So glad I escaped the city

I guess it depends on what kind of life you like.
