I just can’t get over this statement by Tom Caper’s spokeswoman. Why is it tormenting me? Perhaps because every bit of it is a cynical lie.
Carper “believes it is time to set politics aside and move forward in a bipartisan manner to address this complicated question,”
Hold it. Is the keystone pipeline a complicated question? I don’t think so. It is pretty much known to be an ecological disaster waiting to happen concocted to further enrich a half dozen or so people. But perhaps calling it a complicated question is just a little cover?
And anyway…is this setting politics aside? Actually this vote is purely political. A ploy to help Landreiu who is going to lose anyway. Also, signaling a willingness to override the President’s veto makes it MORE political not less political. Does Carper really believe that up is now down? That his constituents are THIS dumb? Well, they are this dumb and I’m sure he is so used to getting by with kind of transparent BS that he didn’t really give it much thought.
“He is hopeful that moving forward with this bipartisan bill will pave the way for Congress to work together on other measures to increase our energy independence…”
That’s just a pure out and out lie. There is no way he harbors that hope. No way. Unless he has the mental age of a five year old (which he doesn’t), there is no possible way that he can view this veto override as a means to get congress “working together” to do anything. The brazenness of this lie is just stupefying.
…while also addressing the real environmental and public health threats we face from greenhouse gas pollution.”
But wait… There are some dumbass hippies in my state talking about global warming and climate change so here are some crumbs. Jesus Christ. I’m just… I mean. I’ve been doing this for a while. Keeping track of votes and statements and this really just takes the cake.
When Tom Carper get reelected with 60% of the vote again, it will be to our eternal shame.
