‘Bulo’s Fave New Tunes: October 2014
Best stuff I heard for the first time last month, pretty damn good month, IMHO:
Marc Broussard: ‘Hurricane Heart’ (I’ve GOT to get this guy to the Arden Gild Hall…)
Nick D & the Believers: ‘Bang Bang’
Tiny Ruins: ‘Me At the Museum, You In the Wintergardens’
Son Little: ‘Your Love Will Blow Me Away When My Heart Aches’
Jim White vs. the Packway Handle Band: ‘Not A Song’
Tags: Amason, El Somnambulo, Famy, Jim White vs. the Packway Handle Band, Knox Hamilton, Leon Bridges, Marc Broussard, Nick D & the Believers, Son Little, Steve Tanzer Delaware, Tiny Ruins
Marc Broussard: ‘Hurricane Heart’ Should be…”C,F,G C,F,G C,F,G” Someone got a guitar for Christmas!
Famy: ‘A Ho A Hand’ – I hated this song when Echo and the bunnymen wrote it in 1983.
Nick D & the Believers: ‘Bang Bang’ – “Okay Go” -esque – Not terrible.
Tiny Ruins: ‘Me At the Museum, You In the Wintergardens’ – I want to hate this so much!!! WHY CAN’T I HATE THIS!?!?!
Knox Hamilton: ‘Work It Out’ – Hey Knox, that sociology class that you guys all dropped? See if you can get back in that thing.
Leon Bridges: ‘Lisa Sawyer’ – Pretty good.
Amason: ‘Went To War’ – I’d seriously listen to this.
Son Little: ‘Your Love Will Blow Me Away When My Heart Aches’ – Oy. “I am 200 times more authentic than thou!”
Jim White vs. the Packway Handle Band: ‘Not A Song’ Get a bunch of beards, wood block, a violin, and mandolin and a guitar together in a coffee shop and it should be a self-important mess. These guys have a touch of humility and a sense of fun, so it doesn’t suck.

Because, it’s impossible for you to hate anything/anybody as much as Tom Carper. All else pales in comparison. Even music that you would have hated back in January.
I. Understand.
My favorite review so far is, “Should be…”C,F,G,C,F,G,C,F,G” Someone got a guitar for Christmas!”
Yeah, but the man can sure sing, which is his calling card.

The above video features Broussard and this time he’s got Anders Osborne, JJ Grey, and Luther Dickinson pickin’ with him.
You’re welcome.
To be fair, he also got a capo for Christmas.
Interesting note on the Tiny Ruins video: It was shot and edited by Neil Finn of Crowded House.
Please stick to the topic, or you’ll be moderated. Got it, Rusty?
