Nice picture, but I still think Lewes is the most overrated town in Delaware. With only a couple of exceptions, Lewesians are pretty full of themselves, based on what? I have no idea.
First town in the first state, old architecture, history, arts and crafts festivals, galleries, great restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream shops, incredible farmer’s market in the historic complex, high end clothing, DE Bay and Ocean beaches, State Park. What town is even close?
First town in the first state, old architecture,(one building)history, arts and crafts festivals, galleries,(old people selling each other crap)great restaurants(name one), coffee shops(again..name it), ice cream shops(one mediocre ice cream place), incredible farmer’s market(I’ll take your word for it) in the historic complex, high end clothing(oooh!), DE Bay (gross)and Ocean beaches (Nope), State Park. (best this about the park is that you don’t have to drive through Lewes to get to it.)
Lewes is a bit bigger than just 2nd street. The whole town has historic buildings which have been rehabed. Probably some of the best arts festivals in the state. Buttery, Touch of Italy, Agave, Striper Bites, Gilligans..Kigs ice cream is excellent, The Bay has excellent remote beaches in Lewes with clear swimmable water. Class envy lol..
Lewes has plenty of foot traffic. They don’t need anymore. I would rather that those who have a somewhat low opinion of Lewes maintain that opinion so that they are not tempted to visit or linger very long in Lewes. Lewes having a low profile suits me and most everyone else who likes it just fine. Upstaters have the Riverfront and of course Philadelphia. They don’t need Lewes.
That’s true, caught me. But to me the state park and the town are 1 thing. The ferry terminal is cool to sitting outside at the bar for conch fritters next to the kalamar Nickel..
I’m in Kings eating a hot fudge sundae

That street needs a Five Guys or Subway, something to get some foot traffic

New Castle

@mouse: Milton, depending on the state of rehab.
@J330: Lewes has both a bay beach and an ocean beach. Though the ocean beach is technically the state park, it’s right next to the town.

For an old house? Odessa, Woodlawn, Westover Hills, Wawaset
You’d be surprised what even only 70 year old houses in Deerhurst and Alapocas can get. Old and small.
