Three-Peat Joe?
Imagine Joe Biden becoming Vice President for Life? Okay, not for life, but how about a third term asks Jeff Greenfield. Biden has been been our most accomplished Veep since Johnson in the 60s, he is funnier than Dan Quayle, and, damn it, America would be better off with Biden in the number two slot for many more years.
Neither the 22nd Amendment nor any piece of legislation offers an impediment to Biden staying on. Nor does history. George Clinton was Veep during Thomas Jefferson’s second term and James Madison’s first term. John C. Calhoun was John Quincy Adams’ VP, and stayed on during Andrew Jackson’s first term.

WTF Nemski? No post in 3 years then beat me to this Biden stuff? That’s cold.
uhhh… Nevermind. Now that I read your post, i can see you were going a different direction.
IIRC, back in Jefferson/Madison/etc days, the VP was the runner up to the presidency, rather than chosen as a running mate.
