DL Approval Ratings: Simpler Neutralizes Opinion
So for the first time ever, Delaware Liberal readers are neutral or have no opinion on someone or something. 50% said that they were either neutral, had no opinion, or didn’t know enough about Republican Treasurer Ken Simpler to have an opinion on him one way or the other. And that is logical, since Treasurer Simpler has not done anything yet publicly, nor has he been the typical annoying and grating Republican. 35% approve whatever it is that Simpler is doing, 24% do so strongly. 15% disapprove.
Here is the remaining schedule:
Thursday — Insurance Commissioner Karen Weldin Stewart (D)
Friday — New Castle County Executive Tom Gordon (D)
Take the poll on the right side of the front page underneath the Vote Tracker sign. Of course, this is a voluntary internet poll, thus it is not random or scientific and the margin of error would have to be huge. So this is only for fun and not for any real value.
Best comparison I’ve heard, from one who is familiar with both, is that the current treasurer is a workhorse and his predecessor a showhorse.
We will see soon enough who the workhorse is working for.
He’s a workhorse? Signing all the checks by hand, is he?
I strongly approve of the fact that he has not messed up.
As someone fairly new to the state (moved here in 2011), let me be the first to ask: What exactly does State Treasurer do anyway? Does he actually have any decision-making power? Why is it an elected position?
