Senate Dems (all but one) vote to block “Fast Track”
Who was the wage killing, American worker hating hold out?
WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Democrats have dealt President Barack Obama a stinging setback on trade by blocking efforts to begin full-blown debate on his initiatives.
All but one Senate Democrat defied the president Tuesday by voting to prevent consideration of his request for “fast track” trade authority. Such authority would let Obama present trade agreements that Congress could ratify or reject, but not amend.
Yep. It was Carper.
“The 52-45 vote fell well short of the 60 votes needed, with only one Democrat, Thomas R. Carper of Delaware…”
He can make no legit case for being a Democrat.
He needs to be primaried if he doesnt retire
I called around one o’clock when I heard the vote was imminent and told the staffer that I wanted to Carper to vote against fast track to show that he actually stood with his non-corporate constituents. The staffer asked me if my address was still (my home address) the same, I said yes.
I just called again to let him know that I wasn’t happy about his vote and that I really wished he would change his party affiliation to R and be done with the charade. When I was done with my mini-rant I finished by telling the staffer that they already had my name, number and address just in case Carper wanted to explain his vote to me; then I hung up.
The guy is appalling. Predictable. Ridiculous. Dreadful. Awful. Terrible. Atrocious. Disgraceful. All of the above.
I love this blog!
F. U. T. C.
Maybe Markell will primary him and then it’d be two Republicans running for the Democratic nomination
Anyone have a clue why Obama is fighting so hard for something that much of his base is against? Is he trying to build up for some awesome liberal thing he wants to do next? Why is he attacking Warren and others? I mean, I get the debate…and policy disagreements aren’t the end of the world…but he’s being very aggressive in his views on this.
Obama is part of a faction within the Democratic Party that honestly believes that building and supporting successful multi-national businesses is good for the economy and, by extension, his constituents.
This theory has been proven to be complete bullshit of course, but like Scientologists that have abandoned critical thinking, they can’t extricate themselves from it.
Chess, man. Obama knows the way to make progressive ideas get anywhere is to seem to be against them. progressives will continue to support whats right, and the wing-nuts will do whatever they see as ‘anti-Obama” he is perfectly setting up a Hillary/Warren ticket
lol. Bully for you Ben. That’s some goddam optimism in the face of recent history right there.
