Joe Biden Hillary Clinton 2016 Tornoe cartoon

To quote Ron Burgandy, “That escalated quickly.”

Over the course of one weekend, Joe Biden went from lovable Onion character just trying to wash his Trans Am in the White House driveway to giant cartoon grand piano ready to crush an unsuspecting Hillary Clinton.

But should he run?

No, too much at stake to risk it. We must win this one or die trying.

bamboozer is right. Joe doesn’t want to be seen as the guy who fucked it up and gave a Republican lunatic an opening.

However… if there is the bare framework of a campaign, he could be an electable backstop in the event some wingnut, all hopped up on Fox News, kills or incapacitates Secretary Clinton.

I’d rather have Joe, than wingnut Hillary & Bill. 2 for 1 deal, should be Hillary’s campaign slogan!

  4. Delaware Dem says:

With Sanders the progressive insurgent, and with Hillary already charting a pretty progressive/liberal campaign herself, where is there room for Joe Biden? Compete with Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee for the 5% Conservative Dem vote?

If Joe wanted to run, he had to start planning in 2013 like Hillary did. He didn’t. Case closed. His only option is to be on hand should Hillary die or be too damaged to move on.

The Aug 1st Quinnipiac poll shows that she has a negative approval rating of 51-40. to the question is she not trustworthy she was found untrustworthy by an astonishing 57 to 37 margin. when asked if she cared about people like me 52 to 45 said she didn’t. It’s hard to talk about progressive economic populism when you’re part of the 1%. You can not win with those kind of numbers. Minus 11 points in overall approval, untrustworthy and doesn’t care about people like us. Conjure up how she would be doing in Iowa and New Hampshire if she were running against Elizibeth Warren (gender advantage neutralized) instead of Colonel Sanders in Iowa and New Hampshire. If you care about the country and the Supreme Court you better hope that Biden runs. Jason don’t worry about anybody fucking up her chances. The newfound family wealth, selling influence to foreign foundation contributors and her unbelievable email blunder are moving her as incredible as it may sound a weak candidate that would lose to Bush, Walker and other top tier republican candidates. Remember, the public doesn’t like or trust her and there’s been no campaign run against her. We may find that our only hope is that the Republican circular firing squad goads trump into an independent candidacy

  6. Jason330 says:

The “untrustworthy” numbers aren’t surprising given the 20 year long smear campaign abetted by “left wing” media outlets like the NYT. Nevertheless, I’m not immune to concern trolling on this topic.

Smear? She has done her on smear. She quit as Sec of State when things started heating up, do we want that in the oval office? NO. We need a leader this time, not a puppet!
