Senator Chris Coons Agrees with Dick Cheney on Iran
It is worth repeating. Dick Cheney, a guy who has been wrong about everything, a guy who still thinks the invasion of Iraq was a good idea, agrees with Senator Chris Coons the on the Iran nuclear deal.
Former Vice President Dick Cheney plans to give a speech in September about the Iran nuclear deal to the conservative American Enterprise Institute.
Cheney is set to give the speech Sept. 8, just more than a week before Congress votes on the deal Sept. 17, according to an AEI news release.
Cheney’s speech plans to address the “deal’s consequences for the security and interests of the United States and its allies in the Middle East,” according to the release.
Let’s not forget Cheney’s office built the torture regime as well. He’s simply a disgusting individual.
Has Coons provided any significant rationale for his position? If he has I haven’t read it. I just assume he’s carrying water for the Israeli lobby.
I did find this

Typical political rubbish. “Iran isn’t trustworthy.” As if that’s an argument for something. Then the vague alternative… more sanctions and military intervention. First, sanctions are done. The UK, France, Russia, China and Germany have no interest in continuing it. That’s over… Coons needs to grow up.
So I guess we’re ready for war with Iran…. except that Iranian Shia militia are fighting Daesh in Iraq… so there’s that. Plus we’re already backing Lebanon in the region…

“I just assume he’s carrying water for the Israeli lobby.”
If so, then why? How much of a presence does the Israel lobby have in Delaware? Coons is under no real political pressure except from bankers and the 1%. The somnolent Delaware voters aren’t holding him accountable for anything. Is Coons linked to some pro-Netanyahu billionaire? I guess there is always the Gore defense contracts thing.
My take is that his stance is more about shaping a hawkish brand identity for some reason. He may think (because he supports many liberal social policies) that he needs to be hawkish, or voters will think he is a pussy.
Yes, that a ridiculous line of thought, but it is the only thing that makes sense. Joe Biden used “tough on crime” for the same reason. It is grade-school idiocy – but that’s where we are as a political party.
Why? Money is my guess.
If you listen to the interview on that link the only argument is “I don’t trust the Iranian regime, at all.” (Direct quote)
I fail to see how that’s even relevant. Is the deal as written dependent on the honor system? I suppose you could argue that the Persians don’t trust the American regime at all either. At least the Iranian VAJA hasn’t facilitated a coup to overthrow our government. Has Iran attempted to orchestrate a three-way arms for hostages deal to prop up a military junta in Central America? Oh wait, that’s the shit we do…
Are the Saudis trustworthy? Are the Chinese?
The entire “I don’t trust Iran” argument is extremely embarrassing.
If Coons were king of the forest…
Not earl, not duke, not prince.
His regal robes of the forest
Would be satin, not cotton, not chintz.
I just found this about Those ads telling you to call Chris Coons and say you don’t want him to Vote for the agreement.
The money is behind Saudi lobbyists:

Just amazing
We need some editorials in the News Journal to make him feel some heat
Oh, the House of Saud. Our great ally. Totally “trustworthy”… These guys…

Executing non-violent drug criminals… Those “convicted” of adultery, apostasy, witchcraft and sorcery. Oh and children… Our “trustworthy” friend.
I honestly thought the ads were AIPACs doing. I tend to forget that the House of Saud has a vested interest in us doing their dirty work too.
It should play nice in the news to know that Saudi’s are pressuring Coons and his constituents.
Remind me again where the 9/11 guys kicked around their bloated goat stomach?
Don’t forget the proxy war in Yemen.
The fact is that the people and culture in Iran is much more open and liberal than the government. In the Kingdom it’s a very different story. Read that story in the Independent. Sickening.
Oh Yemen, we’ll be dealing with that for decades. Progressive Obama and his drones…hooray
What made the Hottentots so hot?
Who put the ape in apricot?
Whadda they got that Coons ain’t got?
Courage.
I dig Geezer’s Tin Pan Alley routine.
I will certainly work for anyone willing to primary this POS
