He was touring in Madrid, still performing at the age of 77, when he passed away yesterday. His sound was largely the sound of N’awlins R & B. In fact, I can’t imagine N’awlins music without Allen Toussaint. He often wrote, produced and played piano on some of the best songs to emerge from the Crescent City.
