DL GOP Fantasy Pool Update – New Hampshire and Beyond…no more Rand or Rick

Filed in National by on February 3, 2016

Ted Cruz really is an odious weasel. He goosed his ground game by convincing Carson supports that their guy had thrown in the towel. You can only use that play in a caucus state, so he did and you can’t argue with the results. [And by the way has anyone else noticed that Cruz’ campaign manger looks like the bad guy from the Smurfs? Does anyone doubt that this guy could have brazenly lying in his toolbox?] rick tyler

So what happens now?

I see Trump’s white nationalist partisans are all in, so Trump could keep it going for a while. But even as loud as they are, the grizzled 20% of Republicans who like Trump are still 20% of Republicans. Rubio appears to be the new establishment pick, which makes him the party’s ebola monkey from the tea party perspective. So can Cruz, the odious weasel, end up being the guy who unites the GOP? I think it is possible. But, ultimately, nobody knows jack shit. John Kasich, the 69th Governor of Ohio, could catch fire. Literally… Michel Jackson style, during the taping of a Pepsi Cola ad. We simply don’t know.

Rick Santorum must feel like a moop.  He came in 2nd last time. Historically that means this was his turn to be nominee.  Anyway, he ran his campaign as if people were supposed to know that.

Here are the revised standings:

Rubio is Cruz minus the offensiveness plus youthful charisma. I see him as the nominee, winning in the “Romney states.” That said, as long as Trump stays in the race, all bets are off. Rubio will surge in poll numbers in NH over the next few days I think due to his “strong” second loser finish in the bastion of democracy by coin flip, Iowa.

  2. Jason330 says:

Moe good news for me, and bad news for Professor Newton.

Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) will announce on Wednesday night that he is dropping out of the presidential race, CNN reported Wednesday afternoon.

  3. Jason330 says:

I do wish Sanders was a Democrat and not a Democratic Socialist, but I also wish Clinton wasn’t being indicted. Nobody’s perfect.

As for the rest…the Democratic Pharisees were nervous that Obama was a black guy. Democratic elites, like John Manifold, internalize too much Fox News thinking and imagine that it is real.

  4. Jason330 says:

ALSO – Clinton people better come up with an affirmative case FOR Clinton, and stop trying to scare us Bernie supporters. (Have they learned nothing from the past 20 years?)

If all they’ve got is “Bernie is scary” – then he is going to steal this thing.

  5. Steve Newton says:

Chritie won’t last much past NH jason, which hopefully means you won’t get to make up much ground.

  6. Jason330 says:

Do you know I’m not moved by the “Republucans are going to go after Sanders with everything they’ve got” argument?

It it because I fell for it last time and shied away from Clinton because I didn’t trust the Republicans to allow her to govern.

    Fool me once…

  7. John Manifold says:

Jason: You’re backing a worthy horse. Bernie’s done a great job in this campaign, as an advocate and a candidate. There’s also no question that the opposition is holding fire, hoping against hope that he’ll be the nominee [as we also are hoping for Crooz]. Should Bernie win the nomination, he will have to survive a nuclear onslaught that, thus far, is being kept quiet. Maybe he’d win, but one of the Democratic candidates has survived a quarter century of slime, and remains the most admired woman in America. The other Democratic candidate has played in a lesser league.
