Three Newark-Area state lawmakers have endorsed their fellow colleague, State Senator Bryan Townsend, this morning. From the Townsend press release:
In his endorsement, Sen. David Sokola cited Townsend’s willingness to take on tough issues.
“On a whole range of issues from strengthening our education system and ensuring access to clean water to stabilizing our revenue sources, Bryan Townsend has never shied away from offering bold solutions on tough issues,” Sokola said. “He has been a problem solver in Dover and I know Bryan will be a problem solver in Washington as Delaware’s next Congressperson.”
Rep. Earl Jaques had high praise for Townsend’s tireless commitment to public service.
“Bryan Townsend’s selfless approach to public service is exactly what Delaware needs right now from their leaders in Congress,” Jaques said. “From his pro bono legal work and legislative support for disabled veterans, to expanding access to absentee voting, Bryan has a real record of working for military families and hard-working Delawareans. That’s why I support his campaign to be our next Congressperson.”
And Rep. David Bentz focused on Townsend’s commitment to fighting for changes in our criminal justice system.
“Bryan Townsend believes we should become a society that treats drug addiction, not criminalizes it,” Bentz said. “In Dover, Bryan has forged coalitions in pursuit of ending mass incarceration, and I know he’ll continue to be a champion for criminal justice reform in Congress.”
These endorsements come on top of earlier endorsements by Sen. Karen Peterson, Sen. Nicole Poore, Rep. Ed Osienski, and Rep. Paul Baumbach.
