Iowa’s Steve King Wants to Know What Non-Whites Have Contributed to Society

Representative Steve King, R-IA has determined that only white people have contributed advances in society. Or, for the apologists, is completely ignorant of societal advances and contributions made by those with higher levels of pigmentation in their skin.

“If you’re really optimistic, you can say this was the last time that old white people would command the Republican Party’s attention, its platform, its public face,” Charles P. Pierce, a writer at large at Esquire magazine, said during the panel discussion.

In response, Mr. King said: “This whole ‘old white people’ business does get a little tired, Charlie. I’d ask you to go back through history and figure out where are these contributions that have been made by these other categories of people that you are talking about? Where did any other subgroup of people contribute more to civilization?”

“Than white people?” Mr. Hayes asked.

Mr. King responded: “Than Western civilization itself that’s rooted in Western Europe, Eastern Europe and the United States of America, and every place where the footprint of Christianity settled the world. That’s all of Western civilization.”

“Other categories of people”. Does anyone else feel slimy after reading that? “Where did any other subgroup of people contribute more to civilization?” “Every place where the footprint of Christianity settled the world. That’s all of western civilization.” Who wants to point out the sheer number of contradictions in King’s statements above?

Christianity- modeled after the teachings of a Semetic Jew. Cuneiform, arguably the most significant contribution to written language, from the Ancient Sumerians (that’s in modern-day Iraq, Steve), I can go on and on and on. Chris Hayes said he did not want to get into a discussion of the history of human civilization. I’m actually pretty pissed about that because I REALLY wanted King to elaborate and put his ignorance and bigotry on display.

Note the “Oh shit!” moment from King in the final paragraph of that quote when he dodges Hayes’ identification of his “Whites only” mindset. He then changes to “Western Civilization”, then realizing that he maybe is *still* too overtly racist, broadens to Western & Eastern Europe. But now he has included some less-than-white Eastern European “subgroups of people” and throws in the “Christianity” tag. There. Now it’s okay. Right guys? How many coats of GOP brand White-Wash was that?

Sure, let’s elect a guy from this party President.

A mind numbing level of mental gymnastics.
