Tom Gordon does not show up to WDEL debate with Matt Meyer!!
Apparently Mr. Gordon has refused to debate and defend his poor record tonight. #nomoretomfoolery #noshowtom pic.twitter.com/AyOBzlORHF

Tom Gordon, a corrupt coward.
[Update]:
.@Meyer4NCC brought a cut-out of Tom Gordon to the @WDEL debate. Note: He declined to participate. #NetDE #WDELelex pic.twitter.com/qe1v68AluR

Was Gordon’s declining to participate something we knew about in advance? Or did he cancel at the last minute. With Meyer bringing the Gordon cutout, it would seem to be the former.
What the hell?
It would seem from WDEL’s own reporting on their debate tonight (from posts earlier today) that Gordon’s refusal to participate was not something that was known in advance. If they did know about, they didn’t write about it. And they would have, because that’s a story. So MAJOR PROPS to Matt Meyer in having that cut out with him. He must have suspected that Gordon would not show up after Delaware Liberal’s devastating endorsement of Meyer earlier this week. (LOL).
I got two different automated phone polls tonight; one on statewide Dem candidates and another on NCC Dem candidates. No pushing; just 1-5 approval for each name, and “if the primary election were today who would you vote for.”
The Party may be doing internal polling. Or it could be the News Journal or UDEL.
Puck , what city was the call from?
Believe it or not, I don’t have CallerID on my landline. *69 reports the NCC call came from a 302 number, which did not resolve to anything on Google.
Maybe Gordon is catching whatever Mayor Williams’ cowardly disease is.
“Bite me,” Tom said.
The Meyer direct mail hits must have left a scar. Ouch!
I got an automated poll too. Polled on County Executive, and County Council President. Came from 302 number. Seemed pretty unprofessional, mispronounced names etc.
I got the call tonight, too. They said “Matt Meyers” and “The Democrat Party”. It claimed to be “Cell Phone DE” on caller ID. They just asked about NCC for me.
I got one a couple days ago. Asked favorability of Trump/Clinton/Obama, Carney, BHL/Dorsey Walker and Poppiti (which they pronounced Pop-etty). Nothing about county races. Might have said they were calling from Millsboro
The LG choices are…strange. I don’t know anybody who thinks that Sherry Dorsey Walker is among the key candidates. Seems like BHL, McGuiness and maybe Poppiti are the serious contenders.
The LG race is definitely down to Poppiti, BHL and McGuiness for the win.
Dorsey Walker will run fourth, third at best if she outperforms. Then she will run for Bobby Marshall’s seat again in two years. The 3rd senate district is a changin………
*sigh*
I happen to know that Tom Gordon was at a fundraiser (long-planned) at Joe Kelly’s house tonight with a bunch of civic-oriented supporters from Save Our County. WDEL was aware he wasn’t coming to their debate tonight.
I was more happy / surprised that Barry Nahe didn’t show. Said he got stuck in traffic.
Gordon has been at odds and unwilling to talk with anyone at WDEL since Amy Cherry did here excellent investigation of the crony farm deal in Port Penn. I think they clearly suspected he would not show up after his harsh treatment of the WDEL reporter at the News Journal Debate. I guess Gordon is a lot like Trump and shuns any good news outlet, and with his “Bite me, Asshole” type of comments.
*sigh*
It’s not like WDEL scheduled this debate just yesterday. Gordon had a choice. He could have done the debate and STILL schmoozed with his ‘civic-oriented supporters’. He chose not to attend the debate. And we all know why.
*sigh* says Gordon apologist Nancy Willing. WDEL knew Gordon wasn’t coming because he told them that when they asked for alternative dates he would be busy on whatever date they decided on. He is still smarting from Amy cherry exposing his corruption in the farmland deal clearly one of the best pieces of political investigativere reporting in years. His redassed sulk gave his democrat and republican opponents the opportunity to beat him like a pinata for over an hour on the most popular radio station in the county. He must be taking advice on political strategy from his political ally soon to be exmayor Dennis Williams
It is my understanding that WDEL followed the standard protocol of setting the date with the incumbent and then scheduling with the challengers. I believe the date was set with Gordon, and then confirmed with the others. This is easy to check and confirm, just call the other candidates or WDEL. Gordon is just being a petty coward with WDEL due to the excellent journalism of Amy Cherry on the crony farmland deal.
Civic-minded. Heh.
