Something I Learned Today: Oct. 4, 2016

This may or may not work.  It dawned on me that I come across new stuff all the time that I want to share with people.  Not necessarily political stuff, but new discoveries that (I think) deserve greater attention.

So this is the start (and perhaps the end) of an infrequent series called “Something I Learned Today”.

Since my love for music is well-known, it is inevitable that this feature has its own theme song:

Today, I was introduced to an artist I’d never heard of.  Many of you are likely fans of Neil Gaiman’s “Sandman” and are familiar with the brilliant multi-media artwork of Dave McKean, who brought Gaiman’s dreams to life.  Well, McKean has released a new graphic project entitled “Black Dog: The Dreams of Paul Nash”.

I had never heard of Paul Nash. It turns out that he was a British painter who “transformed the moon-like landscapes of WWI battlefields and British countryside into alien windows of startling beauty.”

So. I checked him out, and was glad that I did. Here is a short film about one of his masterpieces:

Hope you found this interesting. I did, and wanted to share.
