Charlie Copeland still “fully supports” Donald Trump for President

Filed in Delaware by on October 20, 2016

After the first Presidential debate on September 26th, Charlie Copeland released a statement saying that Donald Trump won the debate with a performance that made it clear that he should be supported by Republicans, Democrats and Independents alike.

Since that time Trump has revealed the fact that he is a serial sexual predator who feels that his celebrity status gives him the freedom to grab women “by the pussy.” He has supported Russian geopolitical aims, and taken election aid directly from the Kremlin, and last night Trump said that he will keep the country “in suspense” over the question of whether or not the peaceful transfer of power will continue in American.

And yet Charlie Copeland still fully supports Donald Trump for President. That is appalling. It is one thing for Charlie Copeland to have political differences with Democrats, but to fully support a candidate that is attacking a vital tenant of our system, the notion that election results are honored and accepted by winners and losers alike, that is simply appalling.

Bonini apparently re-affirmed his support for Trump last night as well.

You must read Lacey Lafferty’s Op-Ed in the News Journal today. I had a real nice laugh reading it on the bus. She really is an empty-headed bumpkin. The idea of her tapping away this drivel holed-up in a dimly lit study at some heavily fortified backwoods Sussex compound with gas lamps burning and Alex Jones playing softly in the background is fucking hilarious to me. I wonder if her copy of The Protocols was out on her desk?

This entire Trump campaign has marginalized people who continue to “fully support” him into shut-in conspiracy theorists and crack-pots. Unserious and Unless.

Meredith Chapman and Mike Castle call for bipartisanship and a “return to moderation.” in today’s News Journal. In other news, Mike Castle still supports Trump.

Lots to unpack there. I figure there will be a post devoted to this topic today.

  4. Jason330 says:

That reads like Mike Castle is endorsing John Carney. (Which I’ll bet he is, only quietly.)

And if Castle is honestly interested in uplifting our discourse and looking beyond party, the first agenda item should be denouncing Trump and Charlie Copeland, who fully supports Donald Trump for President.

I have to hand it to Copeland for putting the final nail in the Delaware Republican Party coffin that Christine O’Donnell built.

  6. Stat says:

Breaking news: A Republican supports another Republican.

  7. Jason330 says:

    FAIL.

That excuse is pretty weak according to the esteemed Mike Castle who says we need to look beyond party affiliation.

It is over 24 hours since I put up this post and I’m still a little shocked by the fact that Charlie Copeland still “fully supports” Donal Trump.

Charlie is trying to figure out how he can safely jump off a sinking ship. Problem is, he’s never swam in anything deeper than the Brandywine over by his boyhood home near Breck’s Mill.

  10. liberalgeek says:

The last time Charlie jumped off of a sinking ship, it was the night before election day 2008 when he distributed a sample ballot that suggested voting for Obama, Markell and Copeland. Good times.

He obviously feels he has a greater future with the crazies, which will dominate the Republican party for some time. There appear to be far many of those, than sane moderate Republicans. I wouldn’t give him any credit as far as his intelligence is. He wants to stay relevant in his mind and the only way to do that is to hitch his wagon to the crazy, dangerous one. So sad for society as people like him and to a greater degree, Ryan and McConnell, doing the same thing; they could have taken the higher ground and helped change some of the dangerous discourse in this election. Copeland is a little man and was a bad Senator.
