Meyer Appoints Chairpersons to Transition Team

Filed in Delaware by on November 18, 2016

On January 3, 2017, Tom Gordon will be gone. He’ll be back like herpes, but in the meantime we can move forward the Matt Meyer, the New Castle County Executive-elect. Meyer has appointed Charles H. Toliver IV and Dan Freeman to head his transition team. Toliver is a partner at the law firm Morris James and Freeman is head of the University of Delaware Horn Program in Entrepreneurship.
The News Journal reports:

Meyer said the men will help with both hiring as well as the formation of 10 committees meant to craft the new executive’s agenda for the coming years. The groups will be made up of government officials and members of the public and focus on county services like sewers, land use and public safety.

The committees include a group partially appointed by Wilmington Mayor-elect Mike Purzycki and focused on what services can be shared between the county and city.

This last bit is exciting as it appears both Meyer and Purzycki understand that for New Castle County or Wilmington to succeed, both areas need to do well. I am hoping that this turns out better than the ridiculous Gordon/Williams alignment which was nothing more than an election stunt.

Go check out Meyer’s new website, New Castle County Transition 2017. You can suggest ideas on how to make the county a better place and even apply for a job.

22 Committees between Meyer and Purzycki and not one is focused on serving the 125,000 residents of NCC/Wilm under the age of 18. Very sad!

Libraries, parks, recreation, and cultural affairs all have a big focus on residents under the age of 18.

And Meyer’s Heroin and Opiate Addiction is kind of important for kids too.
