Coons MIA, Bonini Shadow Governor, Carper spoiling for fight (over climate change?)
A couple of takeaways from yesterday’s NJ front pager from Adam Duvernay.
1) Coons is signaling a desire to just be left alone for four years. Fat chance of that happening. History has its eyes on this Congress. Will it be the one that sells out the Republic for a little peace and quiet and some highway money? The coons response to that appears to be a near silent stage whisper, “Hell yes!”
2) Colin Bonini, a guy who apparently doesn’t know what the term “Federalism” means, is now the elder statesman of the DEGOP. Let that sink in for a second.
3) Carper is going to draw a line in the sand, or a line in the salt marsh, as the case may be. Listen up people…Climate change is his going to the mat issue.
Just listen to Senator tough guy puff out his chest:
“I’m a glass-half-full guy, but there are going to be some areas where we may disagree. For example, Delaware is the lowest lying state in the country,” Carper said. “The extent to which people want to ignore climate change and sea-level rise, they’re going to have to pick a fight with me.”
Ooohhh… scary! But seriously, folks, what is Carper doing here, other than saying, I’m going to be a patsy on most things, but there are some “Democratic” crumbs I’m going to have to pretend are a banquet?
Ironically, he’s NOT a glass half-full guy. When it comes to MBNA and the credit card giants, he’s 100% for them and 0% for consumers.
Coons is a weasel. A weasel with an ethics degree. Which one wins out — the ethics he learned or the weasel he is by nature?
