Chris Coons ups his “acquiescence and accommodation” game
I have observed that Coons was setting out to present himself as the most spineless member of congress in terms of dealing with Donald Trump. I thought that might have been a bit of hyperbole, but I seemed to have underestimated how much Coons wants to snuggle into the arms of the President-elect.

You did read the part about inviting the President elect to the National Prayer Breakfast is a tradition going back to Eisenhower. Not everything has to be so partisan.
Maybe Coons wants to embarrass Trump when he sends regrets and says “I’m a religious person … I don’t need to pray.”
“You did read the part about inviting the President elect to the National Prayer Breakfast is a tradition going back to Eisenhower. Not everything has to be so partisan.”
You could not be more wrong. This is what normalization looks like. You don’t invite the devil to the prayer breakfast if you’re in the opposition.
This little prick is worse than Carper, who at least wasn’t a sanctimonious hypocrite.
Maybe someone can send Mr. Ethics this recent post by Markos:
“In 2009, Republicans set out to undermine everything President Barack Obama did even though the president had a 70-percent approval rating. Here we are, with a genuinely illegitimate and terribly unpopular Russian puppet ready to take the helm, and Democrats are silent and meek. That shit needs to end, and it needs to fucking end now.”
Coons can’t figure out what a Democrat should be doing now:
“I’m going to attend the inauguration and do my best to carry forward the values and principles of the Democratic party and to challenge folks he nominates who I think are qualified for the job,”said Coons. “I just don’t see what else it is that we should be doing besides the things I just laid out.”
Trump won’t forget that Coons called him a ‘Cheeto faced’ guy in his tirade during the campaign.
Interesting depth on the dynamics of circles around the National Prayer Breakfast: http://www.talk2action.org/story/2016/11/30/11380/958/Front_Page/The_Bakke_Plot_To_quot_Infiltrate_quot_Secular_Institutions_
If we’re going to rip up the First Amendment, let’s get rid of religion and keep the other four provisions.
