That WDEL Carper clip is Carper’s people attempting damage control after the clip of Jeff Day challenging him on the vote. Of course, there wasn’t much damage since media didn’t carry the Day clip and it sank pretty quickly even on the blogs. So we just get Carper’s side of the story in the press, as usual. But it does show how butt-hurt and thin-skinned Carper is about any kind of challenge.

I am sorry but I am far too passionately committed to my ideals than to listen to some anonymous troll bot barking orders at me.
We are only a few days away from living under textbook fascism – and this is largely our fault. We did not take on the propaganda of the far right and develop counter arguments.
Instead, we called them racists, bigots, etc. and tried to shut them down. As noble as that was, it’s not the same as a counter argument. We need to develop useful counter arguments if we wish to win in the marketplace of ideas.

Oh, I am so scared. You are going to lobby to keep a truth teller from providing valuable feedback on how we can turn things around.
The bottom line is that we lost.
We lost despite having most of the media on our side.
We lost despite having most of the education institutions on our side.
We lost despite having Hollywood, the music industry, much of big business, the celebrities and half the Republican party on our side.
We lost despite having our country’s changing demographics on our side.
And we are going to pay the price in the next 4-8 years.
Don’t get me wrong: I am all about “stomping” people when they hurtful or bigoted things about our first African American president – or any other person of color. The time to “shut down” wing nuts, extremists, bigots, etc. is over. This isn’t the 1980’s any longer – a right wing lunatic can reach millions of people with a computer and an Internet connection.
When they make an argument, we need a more compelling counterargument. When they make memes that go viral, we need better memes that reach more people. When they “punch”, we need a counter punch.
They are making fun of us. I know you hate their propaganda (as do I), but we need effective counter propaganda:
