Trump’s Inauguration: Who’s In, Who’s Out
Yesterday, Tom Bittle of the Delaware State News tweeted that all three of Delaware’s congressional delegation is going to Trump’s Inauguration.

Late last night, WDEL reported that Tom Carper and Chris Coons are going though Carper has given himself some wiggle room.
“I expect that I will, I’ve attended inaugurations for Democrats and Republicans in the past as a congressman, as governor and as a senator,” said Carper.
Now, Coons who considers Congressman John Lewis as one of his heroes and “one of the members of Congress with the greatest moral authority”, is still going.
“I still think that’s it’s important to witness the peaceful transfer of power as a result of an election,” said Coons. “There are some very troubling developments this past week and trend in our nation, and I will speak to that. But I think it is my role to attend the inauguration.”
Meanwhile, Lisa Blunt Rochester did not respond to calls from Channel 6 Action News regarding whether she will be attending.

Brendan Boyle’s comment is concise and honest. Trump is a confidence man and a high-end huckster who’s expressed pride in never reading a book. The idea of going to fête his installation as the president of our country is embarrassing. The entire episode is a national disgrace however you look at it. It’s a taint on everyone. Some people just made a choice to be tainted with this poison for a variety of reasons. That’s fine. I accept it as I accept the fact that I will one day die. I’m not throwing a party about this fact however.
Oh. My only concern is that there is so much to fight against coming from the regressive party that we will need energy for this. And Trump unfortunately may be the only one who can stop the republican congress from screwing average people?
So Trump is the average person’s last bulwark against a Republican Congress? I don’t to what extent this is true, if it’s true at all. But the fact that it might be true is very bad news.
Yeah it’s frightening, e.g., when the morons vote to blow up the ACA, there is nothing democrats can do to stop it. Trump can veto it. I fear the republican congress more than the nut in chief
Unlike Rep. Boyle, I neither accept nor respect the election. Had Donald Trump been prosecuted for his many crimes he would never have been eligible, as a felon, to run, so he’s illegitimate on that score.
Popular Vote Loser by nearly 3 million votes,so illegitimate on that score.
Accepting aid from and offering succor to an enemy with more than 1,700 nuclear warheads at us, so illegitimate on that score.
Beneficiary of unprecedented political interference from FBI, so illegitimate on that score.
So I see no reason to either accept or respect the result.

Just called Lisa Blunt Rochester’s DC office (202-225-4165) to thank her for joining the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus and to say that if she decided to skip the inauguration, I would fully support her decision.
The staffer who answered said that LBR has not yet decided what she would and that she (the staffer) would relay my comments.
You think she’d be swayed by lots of constituent calls? We could try!
Paula: I’m gonna call. What the staffer said is in contrast to what the Delaware State News had previously reported, which was that the entire Delaware congressional delegation would attend.

Interesting precedent to set. Only respect the transfer of power if you agree with the choice.
Good point. It’s almost like shouting “You lie!” at a State of the Union speech.
Or completely stonewalling a Supreme Court nomination. Precedents are things to be aware of.
Or spending 8 years peddling racist conspiracy theories, heaping never-before seen disrespect at a president, empowering the Klan, then selling out the yokels that you conned in to voting for you the second you win the election by -3m votes. Very interesting precedents indeed.
