Chris Coons’ Media Tour of Lameness

Filed in Delaware, National by on February 3, 2017

There are times when I get frustrated by Delaware Democrats not acting like Democrats. But there are times that warm the cockles of my heart when the national press calls out Chris Coons for his media tour of lameness.

Sen. Chris Coons’ office phones will be ringing this week after riling progressives with what they’re calling his “media tour of lameness” on President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch.

The Progressive Change Campaign Committee says the Delaware Democrat — a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which will review the nomination — didn’t take a tough enough stance against Gorsuch during a series of interviews with media outlets.

When I heard that one Democratic senator had missed the Tillerson vote for Secretary of State….I thought to myself that the Democrat, whomever it was, better be in a local ICU. That “Democrat” was Chris Coons who missed the vote because it was “his turn” to ride in a plane with Predator Trump. Beyond Lame. To be completely transparent, they were going to Dover Air Base to meet the remains of the Navy Seal who died in the failed raid, however that Navy Seal, as brave and heroic as he may have been, had no ties to Delaware and Coons missed the vote. Coons said his vote would not have made any difference in the outcome. With that thinking, when our very Democracy has been infiltrated by Russian hackers, Chris Coons could miss 99.99 votes since his vote would not make a difference very often, if ever. Coons is beyond LAME. Next time we can run a credible candidate in the primary. He lucked out in the one general election when he ran against a self proclaimed witch. Next time, we can do better.

How is it possible that Coons is still unaware of the gravity of the situation? How is that even possible? He is either shockingly stupid or doesn’t give a fuck. And I don’t think he is shockingly stupid.

Coons’ spinelessness goes all the way to his entry in national politics. When Coons announced his candidacy against Mike Castle and pledged to vote against extending the Bush tax cuts, I immediately sent him cash and signed up to volunteer.

But when Castle lost his primary and Coons’s opponent suddenly was Christine O’Donnell, the first thing Coons did was flipflop on the Bush tax cuts. He lost me right there and has done nothing to win me back. It’s a good thing his campaign never called me to volunteer, because I would give them some choice language.

Like i said. He was promised a job as ghetto guard. It wont save him ultimately, but it makes him a far more despicable figure than drumpf or prez bannon.

  5. Ben says:

It’s too bad Delaware cant recall senators.

  6. chris says:

lets see…casting a vote for secretary of state or riding in a plane with Trump ? which is his job? I think actually voting on nominees is more important than riding with Trump to Dover. Disappointing !!!!!!!!!!!

  7. bamboozer says:

We all talk about Carper and Coons but much like the weather no one does anything about it. Hoping Carper retires but we need to, at the very least, get Coons a primary opponent, he will not change. Other states do it, why not Delaware?

  8. jason330 says:

Coons is up in 2020, so he can give us all the finger and act all Democratic in 2019. that appears to be his plan.

That said, we can form a “Committee to Primary Chris Coons” or something to that effect and try to bird dog the hell out of him, but he could still just kick back, ride in helicopters with the Orange Julius, and run out the clock.

  9. puck says:

By skipping the vote on the oil CEO, Coons avoided pissing off some very powerful people who actually COULD mount a challenge to Coons.

  10. RE Vanella says:

You just ruined Orange Julius for me forever. So many fond trips to the mall as a preteen.

Also, puck is very likely 100% correct.

  11. puck says:

If Coons is ever seen as being responsive to pressure from the left, in the next election he will be replaced with a Republican.

  12. Alby says:

@puck: But none of those people is a Democrat. Nobody is going to primary Chris Coons from the right.

Bottom line: If you’re not going to fight for us, why the hell should we fight for you?
