The speech I wish Pelosi had given
The President lost. Being a loser on something this big should be something he learns from. Losing is no fun, but he lost badly. Like any loser he needs to consider why he lost and try to think about how to not be such a loser who lost.
Bottom line: Loser, lost. Loser.

Exactly. Pelosi did nothing but gloat. She herself accomplished nothing.

The more the better. It still won’t pass. You know your math, I assume. There are 23 Republicans who represent districts where Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump. Here’s an article listing them, the margin Clinton won by and the percentage of people in the district estimated will lose/drop coverage:

Among them is Pat Meehan, whose gerrymandered district wanders all over the suburbs south and west of Philly.
Others not on that list also announced they would not vote for this bill because it was too harsh. Their numbers will likely grow with a more draconian bill. Face it, they just don’t have the votes and they’re not likely to get them anytime soon.
I’d call it strategic gloating. Trump is not hard to taunt into a bunch of unforced errors
I’m enjoying the whole thing immensely, the Republicans are now being forced to admit that much of what they want is repugnant to Americans. In addition the hated “Freedom Caucus” is doing a fine job of tearing the party apart in the grand tradition of “we’re right ,your wrong so get over it”. In the meantime the ACA stays in place and even the red states are finding something to love about it. Not holding my breath for round two as I suspect the Republicans know there is no reconciling the far right with the real world of the millions that will lose their insurance.
The Republican Kansas GOP just passed Medicaid expansion. Obamacare isn’t going anywhere. They fell well short now, bleeding votes from both ends of the ideological spectrum, and it will only get more difficult as the election draws nearer.
Michael Tomasky at Daily Beast had a good take. He said that our democracy might not be functioning as one right now, but it’s still enough of a democracy that a bill with 17% support of the public won’t pass.

If anything, this win shows why you fight. All the calls and townhalls across the country worked. It was moderates that killed the bill.
If Trump thinks a give away to the rich disguised as tax reform is going to be any easier….bring it on!
I agree. The underreported story is the unity on the Dem side tanked this. You have to wonder what would have happened if Tom Carper was in the house instead of the Senate.
