Carney statement on joining blue state climate coalition
This from TPM. Carney’s statement after the jump.
After President Donald Trump announced his decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate agreement on Thursday, the Democratic governors in California, New York and Washington state announced a state climate coalition called the United States Climate Alliance.
Carney said, “What are you looking gat me for? Pete Schwarzkopf is the acting Governor.”
Or…
“Let’s form a committee to investigate it! (If Pete says its okay)”
Or…
“I don’t think my constituent – The State Chamber of Commerce – is interested in something like that.”
“We’re going to join, but we’ll pull out immediately if anyone objects to the way we change the Coastal Zone Act. “
Trump pulled out of Paris , and Carney is pulling out of Coastal Zone….. its all about the jobs they say… doesn’t matter if D, R or whatever. Its all about the $$$.
I take it he hasn’t said anything. Dog bites man.
He commented on the pull out of Paris but nothing on the blue state alliance.
Carney “disappointed” but not disappointed enough to actually do anything.
“He said sea level rise threatens 17,000 homes and 500 miles of roadway in the state.
Carney stopped short, however, of joining 10 governors this week who denounced the president’s action, and vowed to ignore it.”
