Pete Rose Is Pathetic. Was gonna be added to the Phillies’ Wall of Fame. Tens of thousands of bobblehead dolls had been commissioned for the occasion. Just one problem: Pete had recently sued John Dowd for defamation of character for calling Rose a ‘serial statutory rapist’. (Dowd had led the MLB investigation into Rose’s gambling on baseball allegations.) Rose files the lawsuit, and a woman comes forward to identify herself as allegedly being one of Rose’s underage conquests. Rose’s response? ‘She looked older.’ The Phillies have now canceled the festivities b/c they had no choice. Such a great ballplayer, one of the best. Such a horrible human being.
