This Is What Fascism Looks Like
Remember the woman who got 15 seconds of fame last week when she flipped off the presidential motorcade? There’s a coda to her story.
Her name is Juli Briskman. She told HuffPo that her employer, government contractor Akima LLC, wasn’t pleased about the attention the photo attracted, so they fired her.
They told her that because Akima was a government contractor, the photo could hurt their business. “They said you cannot have ‘lewd’ or ‘obscene’ things in your social media. So they were calling flipping him off ‘obscene.’” She also said that a male colleague kept his job after recently posting on his Facebook page that someone was “a fucking Libtard asshole,” but was allowed to delete the post and keep his job.
To clarify, calling someone a libtard is OK with Der Pumpkinfuhrer, so a government contractor will let you say it. Criticize him, even with a single digit, and you’re shunned.
That’s how Fascism works.
Akima’s website is currently down.
I looked it up too. It is one of the NANA Regional Corporations
(NANA) is one of thirteen Alaska Native Regional Corporations created under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971 (ANCSA) in settlement of Alaska Native land claims. NANA was incorporated in Alaska on June 7, 1972.[1] NANA is a for-profit corporation with a land base in the Kotzebue area in northwest Alaska. Its corporate office is in Kotzebue, Alaska. NANA’s Alaska Native shareholders are of Inupiat descent.
eh, idk. I remember some woman who called (at the time, flotus) Michelle Obama a “gorilla” in a FB post. Her employer (a school) was listed and people responded… directly, on the school’s FBpage, contacted admin however they could… She too, got fired.
Talk about being politically correct.
@Ben: Whoever said fascism was present only on the right in this country?
@Ben: You could also make the case that the school official’s comment, unlike the flipper’s, was not a political statement but a racist one. One could see where that might be a problem for a public school educator.
If you read the interview, the flipper isn’t too upset about leaving. I’m more concerned with the employer’s response. If you read the story, she notes that her profile does not mention the employer. The libtard-hater featured the company on his home page.
No Jason, that is how Capitalism works. With Capitalism, you have to perform for your employer. That could mean a number of things, some of which are doing your job, not publically missing off your employer’s customers, doing what your employer says to do. If you don’t want to do those things, several scenarios could happen. 1. You could remain at your job, and nothing happens to you. 2. You could quit. 3. You could get fired.
Fascism on the other hand is complete State control of private industry. (Look it up) This was Capitalism at work. Obama care is an example of complete State control of the health care Industry. Obama care is Facsism, always on the left. So, for the one billionth/trillionth time, Jason is dead Wrong. P.S. Jason, being mad at the current state of politics does not make you right.
You’re such an idiot you couldn’t even read the byline correctly.
lol.. what an idiot.
Because I don’t want the ignorant ravings of an idiot to stand unchallenged, here’s the actual definition of fascism:
a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition (emphasis mine).
Sorry, sounded idiotic like a Jason post…so I just assumed. Anyway, go to Wikipedia, and type in Facsism!
It’s precisely the sort of thing I wouldn’t trust Wikipedia for. And it doesn’t really matter whether you understand what fascism is or not. Just like you don’t matter. Get out of the way before we have to scrape you off the treads.
Alby, same thing I told Jason, being mad at the state of politics does not make you right. When I started commenting on this blog in 2009 you guys had dozens and dozens of regulars. Look at the state of this blog now. So, go ahead and kick me off. In the words of an old customer of mine, lot of things keep me tossing and turning at night, getting kicked off your blog won’t be one of them!
Who said anything about kicking you off? I was talking about the tank treads of history. They’re going to run you over, and I don’t want to have to stop to clean them off, that’s all.
I’ll say this for you Alby, you follow the regime’s instructions exactly, “Never give up the Con”.
One thing I don’t do is follow instructions. You can ask any boss I ever had.
Then, You’re lying to yourself Alby. And by ignoring my statement that this blog has lost most of its support in your next argument, you are choosing to ignore the truth, because you think by ignoring the truth you can trick others into believing and supporting your guys point of view. But the proof that it won’t work is not only the dramatic loss of support for this blog, but more importantly, the democrats huge losses of governorships, state legislatures, U.S. House and Senate, and Presidency!
You don’t have the slightest idea what I think. I write what I think every day, and you don’t understand a word of it. You, not I, support backward-looking policies by regurgitating tired cliches taught you by your corporate masters.
When you speak the truth, you don’t worry about how many people agree with you.
And the blog is doing just fine, thanks all the same. How’s your book selling?
Yo, Rusty. Without giving away proprietary information, the state of the blog, as measured by the number of separate people who check out the blog on a daily basis, has never been stronger for an off-year between elections. More readers than ever.
But thanks for your concern.
Bulo, are you kidding? Pull my left leg and it plays jingle bells.
Alby, if my book sold a lot or a little, or a medium amount. It’s not relative to this subject. I simply stated the obvious that you continue to be convinced that your right, but the massive exodus from this blog says otherwise. And Bulo, you must have forgotten that I have been commenting on here for 8 years. Mid election year or not, the same 8 or 10 people posting multiple comments in no way compares with the 75-100 regular commentors you used to have when your party was in power, and for some reason you guys thought liberals were going to take over the Country. They left because they finely realized you guys were taking them down the wrong path. But that’s ok, keep telling yourself the blog is doing fine. “Never give up the Con”.
“I simply stated the obvious that you continue to be convinced that your right, but the massive exodus from this blog says otherwise.”
Being popular and being right are two different things. That’s why I asked how your book is doing. How many people agree with you? Yet here you are hassling people you can’t hope to hang with intellectually just because you’re insecure in your beliefs — as you should be, considering they are the same selfish, back-patting bullshit beliefs that small-town Babbittry (look it up) has always clung to.
Comments represent a minuscule percentage of the traffic at this site.
But more to the point, I don’t come to your house and piss on the rugs. Why are you here?
@RD “They left because they finely realized you guys were taking them down the wrong path.”
You’re an idiot. You really don’t understand much of anything, do you?
@Alby “Why are you here?”
Because he’s an idiot.
