The tragedy of Black Lives Matter is that it’s not just about black lives. The victim in Arizona was white. It’s about the lack of accountability for powerful men (and occasionally women). Just as the sexual harassment stuff is actually about powerful men abusing that power.
The police are equal opportunity killers as noted, slaying white, black and brown by the hundreds. Don’t know what the death toll is so far but typically the police kill in excess of 600 Americans per year. Year after year. Also as noted 99.9% of the time they get away with and an assortment of fools actually cheer them on. This must be more of that great “American Exceptionalism” as in Europe and Japan the number is a tiny fraction of what it is here.
I believe the Supreme Court allow police to use deadly force whenever they fear for their life. That provides law enforcement with a ready justification to shoot anyone at any time. The absence of a weapon following a shooting should invalidate their claim of fear and establish grounds for criminal proceedings.
