Just because one is a recognized singer/musician does not qualify one to sing anything and everything. Song choice should have as its first principle – Primum non nocere (First, do no harm).
Absolutely brilliant lyrics, but I have to admit that I had to look them up on line, because half the time I couldn’t figure out what he was singing. Once you look up the lyrics, you appreciate the brilliance of this song all the more. It’s on a par with “Fairytale of New York,” in theme. Is it possible that Tom Waits and Shane MacGowan were separated at birth?
Does anyone remember Tom Waits’ appearance on “Fernwood 2Night”?
