Delaware’s new Public Advocate, Andrew Slater, has only one flaw I can see: He doesn’t know how to play to the media. Releasing any news of value on the Friday before the New Year’s weekend is a rookie mistake, provided you want people to see it. And I’m pretty sure Slater wanted people to notice his close-to-immediate call for Delaware’s utilities to pass on to taxpayers any windfall from the GOP tax heist, no excuses.
It got the attention of Reps. John Kowalko and Kim Williams, who recruited 24 colleagues (including three Republicans) to sign a letter to the Public Utility Commission supporting Slater’s call to open a docket “to reduce the rates of Commission-regulated utilities as a result of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017’s (the “Tax Act”) reduction in corporate income tax and other tax changes.” The PSC is holding hearing on this Thursday at 1 p.m. There’s a link at Kowalko’s web site for leaving a comment yourself.
