Lies, Liars and the Lying Liars Who Lie About Them Open Thread
As last Thursday recedes into the mists of time, what happened in that infamous immigration meeting gets murkier and murkier. Sens. Tom Cotton and David Perdue went from not remembering hearing it to being certain they didn’t hear it. Sen Lindsay Graham, credited by Durbin with confronting the tirade, says his memory has not evolved. Trump, whose mind is as sharp as a tennis ball, now says he never said it. He also denied saying something he said to the Wall Street Journal, claiming he said “I’d have” a great relationship” with North Korean, not “I have.” Because one is so clearly less crazy than the other, one supposes. Say what you will about the “shithole” quote, it got people to stop talking about “Fire and Fury,” didn’t it? Winning!
If lying works for the president, why not for his corporate backers? Therefore last week Walmart announced loudly that its was giving bonuses to thousands of workers, thanks to the Dear, Like, Genius Leader, while not announcing at all that it was laying off 9,000 Sam’s Club workers and also firing/demoting thousands of “co-managers,” who are going to become lower-paid “assistant managers” if they successfully reapply for the jobs. Guess which story got the bigger, more widespread headlines? More winning!
I could say this represents some sort of low point, but I would be lying.
Much lower points visible on the horizon, and moving this way.
Not even close to the low point. Just wait until the dementia progresses.
