DE Libertarians Confront Attempted Ballot Access Theft
This message was up on a site called Radio Free America. Was it posted by the actual “Libertarian Party” or another fraudulent Libertarian Party calling out a different fraudulent Libertarian Party? We may never know.
UNINVITED
Are you a Delaware Libertarian? Did you get a postcard in the mail advertising the Libertarian Party State Convention. Were you thinking about going? Well, I’ve got some good news and some bad news. The bad news is, the event was yesterday, and you missed it. The good news is, it was a scam anyway, so not only did you save yourself the trouble, and the gas money, but it’s not too late to go to the convention afterall. The real Convention is on March 24, and you’re invited.
So what’s with the postcard? Why all the confusion?
Well it turns out that a couple of scamsters tried to steal our ballot access by posing as the Libertarian Party of Delaware. A half dozen or so legitimate members of the State Board turned up at their so called convention to warn any Delaware libertarians who showed up exactly what the nature of the scam was. We were denied access. Seems we weren’t on their list. Turns out, we needn’t have bothered showing up at all. We outnumbered those who did show up for the convention, including the scamsters themselves. Ouch!! Talk about lonesome losers!
Lewinsky’s is a great bar. A dumb theme, but the food is very good and the serviced is exceptional. That said, it is owned (in part) by DIck Cathcart.
So was Cathcart a party to some shenanigans aimed at screwing over the Libertarians? I seriously doubt it. For the simple reason – why bother?
March 24 is the day of the March for Our Lives, which I imagine libertarians don’t care about. They’re the most selfish people in a selfish nation.
Alby,
We scheduled our State Convention at the end of last year, before the “March for Our Lives” event was scheduled. Either way, it is less that we “don’t care” than that we disagree with the proposed solution advocated by the event’s organizers.
Jason,
Appreciate the publicity for the PodCast and the Convention, even if it is offered with the sort of smug detached irony we’ve come to expect from DL. Listening to the PodCast or doing a minimal amount of research into the backstory here would make it clear that the Libertarian Party of Delaware is the regularly organized and constituted governing authority of the State Party.
Will – I appreciate a guy who can appreciate smug detached irony. Also, Let us know the scammers are when you find out.
We know exactly who they are, but since this whole thing is an ego trip for them there’s really no upside to giving them extra publicity.
They are following the direction of an Angry Beaver. That’s the only hint I’m gonna drop at this point. Gotta stay “on message”. ๐
Fair enough.
Epilogue:
I received that postcard at my home because one of my sons is a registered Libertarian. Suffice to say that I am not thrilled with some of his life choices, but he is young and has a good head on his shoulders, so I suspect he’ll come to his senses.
@Will: Why don’t you save us all the trouble and throw yourself in the dustbin of history? Shit-eater.
<3 you too, Alby.
Jason, would you please stop giving these fucknuggets a platform?
Can these libertarians name one government, one country where they been elected and governing?
They’re mostly a bunch of jagoffs who read too much science fiction as kids and thought Robert E. Heinlein was the shit, which led them to Ayn Rand.
They mostly don’t get laid enough.
Libertarian are the worst. Fetishists for INDIVIDUALISM.
Watch videos of the last Libertarian national convention and see if you can find one person you’d invite into your home. Awful, selfish weirdos.
They’re people who read “Lord of the Flies” and said, “That sounds cool.”
Ok, Alby, the Lord of the Flies comment made me lol. ๐
“Theyโre people who read โLord of the Fliesโ and said, โThat sounds cool.โ”
It does sound cool, but they would never actually live like that. Libertarians only live in urban areas where there is central water, sewer, and roads. You know, the things non-libertarian governments provide. There are plenty of remote places in the U.S. where libertarians can thrive, but most them are adverse to using latrines, growing their own food, etc. Mostly they are hypocritical, because they practice “when in Rome” and not their principles.
Yes, they want just enough government so they can pretend to be self-sufficient.
They believe they have little to no responsibility for any common good. Then they believe that’s this belief is the zenith of morality. Grotesque.
I’m just going to say I’m not entirely sure any of you actually know any libertarians with all the strawmen you’re burning here and leave it at that.
I grew up reading a lot of sci-fi. I know these jackholes a lot better than I’d like.
Wow, Will, that’s rich. As if libertarianism isn’t based on burning straw men. Yeah, an all-powerful state — one that won’t even keep military weapons out of civilian hands — is really the greatest danger.
HAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!
And then you shitheels are going to fight them off with your big, brave weapons!
You people truly beggar belief.
I like how Will pretends we’re missing some nuance.
He knows if he listed his top 5 Libertarian ideas they’d all be awful and he’d be mocked relentlessly.
He’d throw marijuana / drug legalisation in there though just to try to appease us.
If that wasn’t a plank in their platform, their membership would fall from the double digits to the single digits.
At the risk of appearing to concede that you have any interest in a good-faith discussion of the possible merits of libertarian ideas, I’ll play along:
1- Legalize Cannabis (ARE YOU NOT APPEASED?)
2- End Interventionist Foreign Policy
3- End Corporate Welfare
4- Free Migration Across National Borders
5- Taxation is Theft
Let the mockery commence.
FWIW, we were also advocating against State imposed restrictions on same-sex marriage when Democrats were still cowering in fear that Republicans might attack them over it.
“Taxation Is Theft”
No, I’m not interested in a discussion. Jack off on your own time at your own web site.
Knew that would be the one to trigger you. You’re too easy.
Not interested in your games, little boy. Go wipe the cum off your hands.
Oh dear.
๐ ๐ ๐
You’re the one who admitted you did it as a jack-off exercise. Don’t play dumb.
While I’ll never get Libertarian’s love for unfettered capitalism (or when they are making a distinction that makes no difference: “free markets”), I do appreciate many of their stances on civil liberty. I’m with them on many of them but not all.
I thought that a true libertarian doesn’t believe in party ownership.
So how can it be considered stolen?
We’re not triggered. You’re the joke.
You know, saying taxes are theft is so fucking grotesque and immoral I’m not letting it go without comment.
As an example…
Every kid in America who needs an inhaler or heart surgery should get it, even if it’s incredibly inefficient. If they’re poor or undocumented or their parents are in prison. That’s our collective responsibility. If you think it isn’t you need to reassess your entire life.
Not for churches or charities. Do not bring that shit here.
Libertarian ideas are second order. They consider no context, and they’re dumb.
It’s a disgusting philosophy. You should be fucking ashamed.
If you think I’m triggered, trust me, I’m not. Don’t be coy. Your arguments will not hold up here. We aspire not to a safe space, but one that’s rube-free.
I loathe libertarians more and more everyday. Did you all think this was enough to send Will packing? I have zero patience for this nonsense.
Nobody hit on my main criticism of Libertarians – that they are all Republicans who want to be able to smoke pot legally. The Libertarian version of small government for corporations (and people who smoke pot), is nearly identical to the GOP’s version.
That’s because we all realize that about libertarians. And the minute one of them needs a government service, that becomes a legitimate exercise of government power.
With the exception of the imperialism… I’ll concede that also.
Sort of. The phony Iraq war exposed many Libertarians on the shallowness of their anti-imperialist sentiments.
True. Generally speaking anti-intervention, but they can’t be trusted case by case. You’re right.
Libertarians don’t believe in any social services. No social security, medicare, medicaid, unemployment, etc. etc. Sure I know a couple of them consider them friends, however when you ask them the question “name one country or state that is libertarian” they become silent. Ayn Rand’s obviously at the base of their so called thinking.
