“Delaware – We are merely the pimps!”

We are merely the pimps! is the new state motto of Delaware, replacing the old official motto "Liberty and independence" and the old unofficial motto "Home of tax free shopping" as well as the other unofficial mottos "The First State", "Small Wonder" and "Delawhere?" We are merely the Pimps! Should ring in everyone's ears, and true delawareans should swell with pride after reading this story about how Delaware's laws facilitate child sex trafficking. I was glad to be able to attend the Kerri Harris announcement today in Wilmington. I had one big question to answer - is this campaign legit? I got to see first hand that, indeed, it is legit. There will be a lot written about this candidate and this campaign, but make no mistake - this is for real.
I saw a serious operation staffed up by a network of organizations and constituencies all converging on this campaign, possibly for their own reasons, but bound by a commitment to challenge the status quo. I saw a deliberate and serious candidate, expressing a sort of humble urgency. But it is also what I didn’t see. I’ve been around campaigns that were not serious. It is hard to put a finger on, but you just get a sense that these unserious campaigns don’t embrace the grind. They think doors are going to be thrown open. I didn’t get that impression from this campaign.
