April 3 Open Thread: Delaware Hoops Star Goes Nationwide
Delaware figured prominently in last night’s NCAA men’s basketball championship, as former Salesianum standout Donte DiVincenzo — known as the Michael Jordan of Delaware when he led the Sals to two state championships — took over the game with 31 points as Villanova won its second title in three years. In a game featuring at least three future NBA draft choices, he was the best player on the floor.
A researcher has found evidence of what I’ve been saying for years: Many Americans treat political parties as if they’re sports teams, to the point where people will vote for their team even if they disagree with it on the issues. It’s stuff like this that makes me fondly recall “Calvin and Hobbes,” specifically the strip in which Calvin asks, “Do you think humans evolved from apes?” and Hobbes answers, “I don’t they they’ve evolved at all.”
If you’ve lost track of all the corruption, cronyism and looniness surrounding EPA honcho Scott Pruitt, Mark Sumner of Daily Kos takes a look at Pruitt’s not-so-great week in light of Trump’s promise that he has Pruitt’s back.
How badly do non-traitor Americans want Republicans out of power in Washington? So badly that Sen. Ted Cruz’s Democratic opponent raised an impressive $6.7 million in the first quarter — none of it from PACs.
As a graffiti enthusiast, I’m impressed by the artistry of this full-wall piece in Florence, Ala., but it has residents somewhat upset because it shows Donald Trump gunning down school kids. Some folks just don’t understand hyperbole, symbolism or outsider art.
“Sen. Ted Cruz’s Democratic opponent raised an impressive $6.7 million in the first quarter — none of it from PACs.”

To the management, ThankYou.
@Alby “Delaware figured prominently in last night’s NCAA men’s basketball championship, as former Salesianum standout Donte DiVincenzo…”
But apparently he’s not helping Delaware’s image at all….
It seems that the racist twit tweets racist tweets.
“Villanova basketball hero Donte DiVincenzo deletes Twitter account after offensive tweets surface”

“It seems that the racist twit tweets racist tweets.”
@LE: Your verb tense is wrong — they apparently date back to high school — but your tiresome liberal outrage is working just fine.
Oh for God’s sake, LE. The kid was 14 and he was quoting a Meek Mill song. You’re being ridiculous.
@na “The kid was 14… You’re being ridiculous.”
I knew better at half that age… Sorry, 14 year olds do not get a pass.
And then there’s this:
“But that reportedly wasn’t the only offensive term used on DiVincenzo’s account. According to ESPN, there were other tweets that used the same slur, some from rap lyrics, as well as tweets that used derogatory terms for gay people and other crude language.”
Yea.. a real hero for young people to look up to. NOT.
Yeah, LE. I think you were meant to post this in the Blue Delaware safe space. Nobody here cares. And our politics are better.
Free Meek Mill!
@LE: Real hero to look up to? Who’s 14 here again? Virtue signaling, as REV said, is the province of the snowflakes at That Other Blog. I suggest you parade your feathers there.
Meh… You’re the one who posted how great the kid was. I simply disagreed. I saw no virtue. Your sports-virtue signaling failed… and that’s what doesn’t belong here.
No. You “disagreed” because he made some bad tweets when he was in middle school. You called it a racist tweet and him racist. We’re not interesting in this.
I personally couldn’t care less about the guy, but digging up old shit so you can show how woke you are had no value here.
You did exactly what Al said you did. If you don’t understand you did it I can’t help you anymore.
