Lessons from history

Filed in National by on April 12, 2018

Eight years ago Delaware Liberal, at the time a broadsheet hand scribed on 24lb premium linen paper, admonished Thurman Adams to “Die or get off the pot!” Adams, never one to get off the pot, later died. That’s how powerful the broadsheet was back before Twitter.

A few years later, this blog’s dogged reporting and rapier wit caused Mike Castle to quit politics.

Now we are engaged in getting rid of Tom Carper. If history is any guide, Carper is done.

Democrats currently running for office, therefor, are even now involved in building the Post-Carper Democratic Party. Listen for that when you invest your money and volunteer time. It is time to looks past the Party of, by and for millioniares and being to fasion what’s next.

Hope your right, been hating on Carper for several decades now with no results.

  2. Jason330 says:

Hate is empty without works. Some dude, Jesus I think, said that.

  3. Winston Ampleforth says:

According to the FEC, as of 3/31/18, Carper has $800K COH and Harris has $0. Hard to run a campaign with no money.

  4. Winston Ampleforth says:

Though April 15 is the April Quarterly filing deadline so may she may have some contributions by that point.

  5. RE Vanella says:

Ask yourself a question. Who has officially filed to run for the Delaware seat in the US Senate?

    Then go look it up.

Then ask yourself why this may be? Does this have an impact on what monies need to be reported and when? Hmmmm. You may feel some confusion, but it’s OK.

  6. RE Vanella says:

    Yeah, maybe… there you go…

  7. Winston Ampleforth says:

So why hasn’t she filed? Wasn’t trying to attack your candidate. You seriously need to chill out.

  8. Winston Ampleforth says:

Filing fee is $10K. Is she going to be able to pay that amount? Again, a serious question, not an attack Mr. Vanella. And yes, I do understand filing deadlines as stated in my second post. Her name is on FEC site as a candidate.

  9. RE Vanella says:

I didn’t think it was an attack at all. And Kerri isn’t “my” candidate, she’s everyone’s.

All I did was respond. My issue is people look at this stuff like it means anything. It really doesn’t.

Is money required to run the campaign? Of course. Does the law need to be followed? Of course. But this quaint idea of tracking cash at hand and fundraising deadlines, etc. is a waste of time. That’s my view.

But again I’m not mad about it. What gives you the idea I was?
