Memo To Dave McBride: Put the fucking bump-stock bill up for a vote. You can either put it on the agenda, or you can do it under a Motion To Suspend Rules. You know and I know that it’s Standard Operating Procedure when a bill returns from the other chamber with amendments. You have buried an assault weapons ban in an inhospitable committee. You have mismanaged the age limit bill to spec for the NRA. The blood will soon be on your hands. Either get your shit together or get out of the way.
(Deep cleansing breath.) Oh, one more thing. Contact our supposed D President Pro Tem and tell him to stop obstructing this package of bills. His phone number is (302) 744-4167. He has the power to move these bills forward, but he has chosen to use his power to bury them. Time to call him on it.
(Additional deep cleansing breath.) Here’s yesterday’s Session Activity Report. In addition to bills previously discussed, the Senate, which runs an Agenda on Wednesdays, also confirmed several nominations.
Today’s Senate Agenda features:
*HB 337 (K. Williams), which prohibits minors under the age of 18;
*Harris McDowell’s bill enabling electric and natural gas utilities to raise rates via an ‘interim rate mechanism’ (nice euphemism there) is back on the agenda after at least two previous tries. There’s an amendment that is full of legalisms. Whether that improves prospects for passage remains to be seen.
It’s actually a meaty agenda, sans any gun control bills. You did see McBride’s phone number earlier in the post, didn’t you?
The House has posted perhaps the least meaty agenda of the session.
Hey, wish I had more. I can only work with what they give me.
