Delaware Liberal

Delaware Political Weekly: June 1-7, 2018

1. It’s Official: Sturgeon vs. Lavelle. Monsignor Lavelle has filed, much to the delight of the NRA. The Senator earned the monicker ‘monsignor’ by supporting the Catholic Diocese’s cover-up of pedophile priests and opposing granting victims the right to sue. He effectively became a human rain delay by denying victims of abuse by clergy the right to damages for years.  You know, while I’m at it, we’re past due for a survey of just a few of Lavelle’s greatest hits.  Here we go:

Lavelle works himself into a creamy froth over Occupy Delaware.

Lavelle opposes damages for the victims of serial molester Dr. Earl Bradley.

Plenty more to come.

2. Kerri Harris Rolling Out Concerted Canvassing Effort? Looks like it. Got an invitation for a group canvass. While I’ll be helping Chris Johnson this weekend, I’ll be back knocking doors for Kerri soon. If you can, I recommend that you knock doors for someone.

3.  Hollins vs. White In NCC District 4. Longtime County Council member Penrose Hollins filed for reelection, setting up a primary with semi-perennial candidate Vincent White.

4. R Primary In Lower Slower.  Two are now vying to replace State Rep. David Wilson, who is running for the Senate seat held by retiring Gary Simpson.  Jesse Vanderwende and Bob Mitchell have filed in the 35th RD, which encompasses Lincoln, Bridgeville, Greenwood, and part of Georgetown. Mitchell filed last week. Vanderwende is a chicken farmer and appears to be the choice of the good ol’ boys, including Wilson. Mitchell primaried Wilson back in 2016, and got 31% of the vote. Here’s a particularly weird 2016 screed about Mitchell from Frank Knotts.

5. Filing(s). Brian Lewis, D Candidate For Kent County Sheriff.

That’s it for this week. What’d I miss, and whaddayathink?
